Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is being praised on social media for asking the sorts of questions that so-called public health “experts” appear unwilling to ask.
In a greatly liked tweet posted Friday morning, he posed the types of questions that could conceivably get him banned from Twitter if enough COVID zealots report him.
“I got a covid question. How come it seems more widespread now than ever even with vaccines? Why is FL no different than other states when they ignore it? Like whats benefit of freaking out when it appears freaking out is as effective as letting people make their own life choices?” he wrote.

The tweet earned him widespread praise, including from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw.
In a reply tweet, she urged Portnoy to reach out to Florida Department of Health press secretary Jeremy Redfern.

As to his questions, the reason zero so-called public health “experts” are asking them is likely because simply acknowledging them could be disastrous to the Democrat Party’s COVID zealotry-centered agenda.
Take the first question: “How come it seems more widespread now than ever even with vaccines?”
The number of New York City residents testing positive hit a record high this past week despite over 70 percent of the population being “fully” vaccinated.
“The previous record, set 11 months ago on Jan. 14, crumbled when Gov. Kathy Hochul announced 21,027 new positive cases statewide Friday. The old record for most reported cases in a single day was 19,942, when reported hospitalizations were on the brink of 9,000,” local station WNBC reported Friday.
Acknowledging Portnoy’s question would mean acknowledging this data and therefore also acknowledging that anti-vaccine-mandate advocates, particularly those who have been arguing that natural immunity should be taken into account, have a point.
Now take a look at the second question: “Why is FL no different than other states when they ignore it?”
Florida currently boasts the lowest cases per capita rate in the country, yet there are no headlines — not one — from the press about the state’s performance, nor any “experts” on TV praising Florida the way they’ve praised Democrat states.
The only time the media and the so-called “experts” ever seem to zero in on Florida is when cases do rise, at which point they predictably always accuse Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, of being a murderer.

This pattern seems to repeat itself over and over again. For instance, despite dozens of governors, including some Democrat ones, having established state-controlled civilian-military forces to deal with emergencies and such matters, when DeSantis recently announced his intentions to follow suit, all hell broke loose.
Now take Portnoy’s last question: “Like whats benefit of freaking out when it appears freaking out is as effective as letting people make their own life choices?”
Critics of mask/vaccine mandates say the benefit is power, ergo why such policies are often referred to as examples of “COVID authoritarianism.”
Even though all the currently incoming data is showing that the Omicron variant is far less deadly than previous variants, for example, Democrat communities across the country are reinstituting draconian mandates.
Keep in mind that these mandates are being reinstituted despite the widespread availability of the vaccine AND the booster, and despite hospitalizations and deaths remaining exceptionally low.
Get vaxxed. I did. My wife did. My parents did. But public policy that now focuses on broadscale masking and/or lockdowns of those who are vaccinated — or forcing small children to mask — is simply a power grab at this point.

Every COVID death is tragic. That goes without saying. But so is every death and case of suffering from COVID restrictions and the ongoing rupture from communities and life.
It’s grotesquely immoral not to allow consideration of *those* costs, instead spreading mass neurosis.

The problem again though is that the recognition of any of this, including Portnoy’s questions, requires admitting that maybe, just maybe, the jig is up …
The jig is up. We have control groups. We know free states like Texas and Florida fare as good or better than authoritarian states. It’s not up for debate. The results are clear. There is no more rationalization of these unlawful, unconstitutional, immoral Covid policies.
