Zac Stacy, the former New York Jets running back who was captured on video savagely beating his ex-girlfriend in front of their five-month-old child in November says that she “staged” the attack.

Stacy fled to Nashville, TN when a federal warrant was issued for his arrest, but he was apprehended in Orlando, FL. TMZ obtained bodycam video of his arrest where he made the claim that the attack on his ex was a setup.

Stacy accused Kristin Evans of having an affair with her lawyer, who he says was a college teammate of his. He learned of the alleged affair a week before he was arrested after deplaning at the Orlando airport.

He claims to have recently been discharged from a rehabilitation center after quitting a job in Nashville and had decided to return to Florida in April in order to help support his child and ex-girlfriend.

“It’s unfortunate because I just got out of rehab for anxiety and depression like eight months ago,” Stacy told cops. “I dropped everything to come down here and support the mother of my child in her last trimester, and the baby. I let her know I wasn’t trying to be with her or nothing like that. This is a case of just bitterness. That’s why she did this. The whole assault thing. She staged it. She set me up.”

“Unfortunately I came down here and played house with her,” Stacy said. “She thought something else was going to be on and she tried to make it about everything else except for me supporting her and the baby. I filed a petition on her to just get my rights on paper, and she’s just been — I don’t know if it’s postpartum — she’s just been unstable ever since.”

He went on to claim that Evans set him up and staged the attack.

“I wasn’t allowed to see my child because when I’d come over to the house I’m disrespectful if I don’t acknowledge her, whatever that means,” he said. “The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of it. She got a reaction out of me. She knew I was down. She knew I was going through anxiety and depression. She knew I was trying to close the gap between me and my son. She’s just upset because she got caught and she’s upset I’m not taking care of her like she thought, and now she took it this far.”

As reported by BPR, Stacy was filmed on a home security camera throwing Evans into a television and appearing to swing at her head before the footage cuts off.

Their son can be heard crying in the background as the ex begs for mercy.

“Listen, it wasn’t …,” she tries pleading as she’s lying on the ground.

“You think that was OK?” Stacy asks her as he approaches her again.

“Now, I do not. Please, please, please!” the woman pleads.

“You thought that was OK, then you gon’ ruin a relationship, talking about I’m destructive?” Stacy replies before slapping her, pulling her up, and seemingly preparing to assault her again as he says, “Bi–h!”

Evans alleged in court documents obtained by TMZ as follows:

“In the docs, Stacy’s ex claims the football player came over her house around 2 PM on Saturday … to see his son. While there, she claims he flew into a jealous, violent rage,” the tabloid outlet reported at the time.

“He punched me several times in the head! I begged him to stop because the baby was on the couch just a few feet from where he punched me,” the ex reportedly wrote in a restraining order application.

“He then picked me up and threw me into my TV. The TV began to fall abd [SIC] he turned to make sure I wasn’t getting up,” she continued. “As I laid on the floor he began to yell at me, telling me I’m destructive. He then picked me up off the floor and off my feet and body slammed me into our son’s bouncy seat.”
