Foul-mouthed and profane but extremely entertaining TV chef Gordan Ramsay has joined the wave of successful businesspeople who’ve relocated their businesses out of the far-left state of California.

“Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has relocated his North American restaurant headquarters from California to Texas,” The Dallas Morning News confirmed late last week.

He’s relocating his HQ specifically to Dallas. In explaining why, the paper noted that the Dallas-Forth Worth area is home to several other major restaurants, including like Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, Pei Wei Asian Diner and Dickey’s Barbecue and Chili’s.

The paper added that Ramsay himself “believes Dallas is the best place to find chef and restaurant support talent.”

The underlying insinuation is that California is therefore NOT “the best place” to find talent. Indeed, according to the data, California appears to be “the best place” to find homelessness, crime and rampant death.

It’s also certainly the best place to find burdensome regulations, like the regulations that were imposed on businesses during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla, relocated Tesla’s headquarters from California to Texas last year because of these regulations.

A report published by Dallas station WFAA over the summer found that by then, a total of 53 companies had already made the exodus out of California this year alone. And of those, 23 relocated to Texas.

“That’s 43.4 percent to Texas so far this year, and 56.6 percent shared between the other 48 states. Taking a longer timeframe, since Jan. 1, 2018, 107 companies have moved their headquarters to Texas from the Golden State. The next winningest destination in that time period was Tennessee with 22 relocations from California, followed by Arizona with 17,” the station reported.

Texas, Tennessee and Arizona are all Republican states, while California conversely is considered to be the most left-wing state in America.

The state is often called a “laboratory” because it’s where left-wing policies like universal basic income and school vaccine requires are first tested.

The problem is that even when these policies fail, California doubles down on them and, worse, the policies wind up being exported to other blue states. This may explain why it seems so rare for businesses — and individuals — to relocate to blue states.

“The top five states seeing a mass exodus are all Democrat-controlled. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois lost a combined 4 million residents between 2010 and 2019,” Forbes reported in March.

“Conversely, a recent study by U-Haul reported that the top five states to see the greatest influx of new residents include the Republican-led states of Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio and Arizona.”

According to Steven Hicks, a Florida-based real estate company owner, the exodus is being driven by a desire to escape the left’s policies.

“Between the high crime, oppressive taxes, high cost of living, lock downs and cold winter weather in places like New York, people are looking for a new life in a safer, more comfortable environment. … We continually hear that same theme from our buyers. And when they see what they can buy for under $300,000, their next call is to their bankers,” he told Forbes.

Dovetailing back to businesses, it doesn’t help that Democrat legislators appear to have little interest in appeasing job creators. It seems they’d rather appease illegal aliens and criminals instead.

As for job creators like Musk, here’s how one prominent California politician reacted to his relocation announcement last year:

Musk got the message loud and clear:

A report published by Electrek in 2018 found that by then, Tesla had contributed over $5 billion to the state’s economy and created 51,000+ jobs.

But not anymore …

Not entirely, at least. Some Tesla factories and employees still remain in the far-left state. Ditto for some of Ramsay’s restaurants.

Still, the tax gains for them and losses for California are reportedly massive.

“If Musk moved his primary residence from California, which has the highest income tax rate in the country, he could save hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions, in income taxes in the coming years. Texas and Nevada have no income tax,” CNBC reported last year.
