Hilaria takes on ‘trolls’, claims hubby Alec Baldwin’s been suffering from PTSD for a ‘very, very, very long time’

Hilaria Baldwin went to bat for her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, on social media decrying attacks from “trolls,” claiming that he has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for years, long before the tragic shooting on the set of his movie “Rust.”

She railed against the paparazzi, social media trolls, and the media in general on Instagram and stated that she is trying to speak her truth. Baldwin captioned the post, “Do you have people creating drama in your life?”

“One thing I’ve learned from entering this famous world is that when you get negative attention whether it’s from trolls or tabloid media and people say to you just ignore it, that’s what they want,” she began.

“If you give them attention, that is literally what they want. The issue is if you don’t say anything, you’re giving them a space to speak for you and your silence sometimes speaks enough for them to be able to commandeer your story,” the mother-of-six continued.

“But it’s tricky because you don’t want to be constantly just responding to every single crazy thing they say,” she added.

“We oftentimes have people creating news stories about us. My husband is suffering from PTSD right now. It’s not from what just happened recently, but he’s been suffering from this for a very, very, very long time,” she remarked.

“And they want to poke at him and they want to upset him. And then they want to create news about this. So if you create a news story then the next day there’s going to be tons of paparazzi and there’s going to be more stories that come off of that,” Hilaria continued.

“And there’s more clicks and more shares and money which [is] what this is all about,” she claimed.

“I’m at a place where I’m tired of not talking and I want to get to a place where I can use my voice you that this is not just a famous thing. This is an all-the-time thing. Everybody has trolls. Everybody has people who want to tell you whether you’re good or bad or what you think or what you feel,” she declared.

Hilaria Baldwin previously told the New York Post that she is worried about her husband and PTSD. “I brought [Alec] up here [to Vermont] because we have to mourn Halyna’s death,” she remarked, referring to the film’s cinematographer who was fatally shot on set. “Alec had a really traumatic thing happen, and I am trying to limit the PTSD.”

“You look at what happens to soldiers and police officers when something like this happens, it’s traumatic. We just came up here for quiet,” she explained.

Hilaria’s claim comes just a week after her hubby did an interview with ABC News about the accidental shooting where the revolver he was holding discharged and killed his Hutchins.

Baldwin asserted in the interview that he “didn’t pull the trigger.” He instead claimed that he pulled the hammer back slightly while rehearsing the scene and that when he let go of the hammer, the gun went off.

He also contended during the interview that if he thought he was responsible for Hutchins’ death he probably would have committed suicide.

Following the interview, Baldwin deleted one of his two verified Twitter accounts. The one he deleted was the one he was most vocal on and where he had issued prior statements about the incident. Both the interview and the account deletion appear to be legal moves to protect Baldwin when charges come down over the fatal shooting.

A special from “20/20” will also investigate the shooting, according to Fox News. The show is claiming that it “examines the events that led to the deadly ‘Rust’ shooting, featuring first-person interviews from those on set.”

Baldwin shared an open letter from members of the “Rust” film crew and cast members on Instagram, clapping back at claims that the set was “chaotic, dangerous and exploitative” in the days before the shooting.

The letter was signed by over 20 crew and cast members. Signing crewmembers “believe the public narrative surrounding our workplace tragedy is inadequate and wish to express a more adequate account of our experience.”

The crewmembers contend they “stand firmly” with their unions and “strongly support the fight for better working conditions” across the industry, but they assert that the set of “Rust” was not an example of the conditions they are “fighting against.”

“The descriptions of Rust as a chaotic, dangerous and exploitative workplace are false and distract from what matters the most: the memory of Halyna Hutchins, and the need to find modern alternatives to outdated industry firearm and safety practices,” the letter added.
