Reaction was swift and brutal over Alec Baldwin’s interview with ABC host George Stephanopoulos Thursday where he wept and claimed he did not pull the trigger on the set of his movie “Rust” which resulted in the death of his cinematographer.

When Baldwin was asked if he felt guilty by Stephanopoulos, he replied: “No. No. I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me.”

“I mean, honest to God, if I felt that I was responsible, I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible. And I don’t say that lightly,” he added.

Baldwin went on to assert during the interview, “I never pulled the trigger. No, no, no. You would never do that.”

After the less-than-believable claim, reaction rolled in over the dramatic and what some refer to as “gross” interview where the actor refused to take any responsibility for what happened that day.

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld made a very astute point concerning Baldwin’s claim.

“It feels like GMA is making some serious coin off of this tragedy. It’s like well-produced, everybody’s made up, they look great. It does feel a little bit — yeah, it feels kind of cold to the victims. We are living in a time where objects have a life of their own and an SUV just murdered a bunch of people and now a gun can shoot itself, so this is the new trend. The obvious question is, why didn’t this come out earlier?” he asked on “The Five” Thursday.

“If you were actually holding a gun, like you said it was a rare chance, I’d be going… I’d be screaming that. Like yelling and everyone would be going… Baldwin was running around going, “I didn’t touch it!” But there is nobody who has actually said that yet, so that’s kind of interesting and I go back to my repeated suggestion, the NRA instructor showed have been there because there is no wiggle room with their obsessiveness over safety and you can mock that, but the obsession is there for a reason so that these things don’t happen,” he remarked.

Gutfeld’s co-host Jesse Watters thought that it was a very good point, adding, “Apparently he was saying, nobody told me it was loaded, who gave me a hot gun? He was never saying, I did not pull the trigger. That’s a very good point. This is where Democrats in trouble, run and go to, they run to little George to help mop them up. This is where Joe Biden went during Afghanistan, this is where Kamala went, Stephanopoulos when she was getting bad headlines.”

“Now he runs out there for a PR and legal move… they got the lighting, they got the AVC five-camera shoot going on, he has his glasses with his things crossed and his pen. It’s not a tough interview. It’s a tender interview. He’s not going to push him that far. He’s only going to push him so far so he can come out of this looking like the victim, and all of this will be rehabbed by his friends and show business. I think he is going to skate,” Watters contended.

Fox News contributor Leo Terrell wasn’t buying Baldwin’s claims either.

“This interview was a preemptive strike. They know there’s charges gonna be coming down. They don’t know who’s going to be charged. No one should believe that he gave that interview without being consulted by his lawyers. No one should believe that wasn’t rehearsed. I want to see the raw footage,” Terrell told Sean Hannity.

“This interview was being done strictly to basically influence the jury pool and get his version out there. Now, he’s committed to this version. You can expect this over and over again. This is a strategy by his lawyers. Let’s not be fooled by this. It was a very sad situation, but … he has a responsibility and his attorneys know that Sean. And they see something coming down with the investigation the first of next year,” he asserted.
