The Democrats may be in deeper trouble than previously suspected when it comes to the 2022 midterm elections, according to a new Wall Street Journal survey that shows Hispanic voters are shifting to the right as President Biden’s approval rating craters over the economy and other issues.
Historically, Hispanics have voted Democrat but that appears to be changing according to the new poll. It now looks like Hispanics are evenly split between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to the generic ballot at 37 percent. Another 22 percent are undecided which could cause the Democrats to panic even further.
“Latinos are more and more becoming swing voters… They’re a swing vote that we’re going to have to fight for,” stated John Anzalone, who is a Democrat and one of the pollsters who was part of the Wall Street Journal survey.
The survey shows that Hispanic men strongly support former President Trump while Hispanic women lean more toward Biden. In the survey, 44 percent now say they would vote for Biden and 43 percent say they would choose Trump. That is reportedly a radical change from polls during the presidential election where Biden secured 63 percent of the Latino vote, according to The Hill.
🚨🚨 New poll from @WSJ shows a seismic shift among Hispanic voters:

“You see in this poll that there’s a group of Hispanic men who were without a doubt enticed by Trump and have become more Republican,” Anzalone noted.
The largest shift toward the Republican Party is in Hispanic communities in south Texas, especially along the border.
In McAllen, Republican Javier Villalobos won the mayoral race in June. That is significant because it is a border town that has historically voted Democrat and has now flipped.
Democrats will respond to this by doubling down on a policy that is not actually popular AT ALL among Hispanic voters: Promotion of illegal immigration. There is a reason people in historically Dem-voting TX border towns are shifting to the GOP in droves. https://t.co/L7CFZWi36m

In another sign that Democrats are in big trouble with Hispanics, Rep. Ryan Guillen, who was a Democratic legislator in Texas, switched over to the Republican Party last month.
“Friends, something is happening in South Texas, and many of us are waking up to the fact that the values of those in Washington, D.C., are not our values, not the values of most Texans,” Guillen said at a press conference when he announced his party change.
“The ideology of defunding the police, of destroying the oil and gas industry, and the chaos at our border is disastrous for those of us who live here in South Texas,” he added.
“John Lujan’s upset victory earlier this month in a district with a majority Hispanic population already proved that Texans are fed up with the failures of Democratic leadership and Ryan Guillen’s party switch makes that fact all the more clear,” Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) president Dee Duncan proclaimed in a statement.
“Today’s Democrat leaders are so focused on appeasing their fringe-left base by putting teachers’ unions ahead of parents, pushing socialist tax and spending schemes, and fighting for open border policies, that even elected officials in their own party cannot support their radical agenda anymore,” Duncan asserted.
Hispanics also don’t care for the term “Latinx” which has been heavily promoted by Democrats, according to Politico. Forty percent claim that “Latinx” bothers or offends them to some degree and 30 percent said they would be less likely to support a politician or organization that uses the politically correct term.
Democrats: “Wait, why are you voting GOP?! We called you Latinx!!!”
Latinos: “Yeah, that’s pretty much why we did. What are you going to do about it?”

Apparently, insulting our heritage by calling us "latinx" (a made-up and, dare I say, very white term) isn't working for Democrats. https://t.co/GJvU6MiUwn

The poll was conducted between Nov. 16-22 among known, registered voters, with half of the survey conducted on cell phones, a quarter on landlines, and a quarter through an internet survey.
The full poll included 1,500 registered voters with a reported margin of error of plus-minus 2.5 percentage points.
The poll had a small sample size of 165 Hispanic registered voters. The survey’s margin of error for Hispanic voters was plus or minus 7.6 percentage points.
Despite the small poll, the results are a worrying trend for Democrats that appears to be growing.
