With the holiday season in full swing and Americans eager to gather with family again after more than a year of dystopian lockdowns, Dr. Anthony Fauci is again pumping the brakes.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden ignited backlash after telling Americans they should ask friends and relatives to essentially show their papers before getting together.
“One thing that vaccinated people can feel comfortable with, for example — let’s take the holiday setting, you’re with your family, you have grandparents and parents and children, when you get vaccinated and you have a vaccinated group and you are in an indoor setting, you can enjoy, as we have traditionally over the years, dinners and gatherings within the home with people who are vaccinated,” Fauci said in the Milken Institute’s Future of Health Summit interview Wednesday.

“That’s the reason why people should, if they invite people over their home, essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they are vaccinated,” he added.
As if to add some dramatic emphasis to his recommendation, the 80-year-old vaccinated immunologist declared that he would be skipping his own family gatherings this year.
“For the first time in more than 30 years, I’m not spending the Christmas holidays with my daughters,” Fauci said, noting that he was not with family for Thanksgiving either.
Fauci’s suggestion that Americans check their holiday guests at the door predictably did not go over well and Twitter users were keen to share their reactions.
Are people for real waiting for Fauci to tell them whether or not they can have a Christmas ham with their family

Ah yes, the storied tradition of having Christmas dinner with only the vaccinated members of my family and shunning the rest like lepers. My favorite part of the season.

Wait, wait, wait, so now Dr. gloom wants individuals to put a bouncer at their door to check vax status?!? What a dingbat!

Imagine actually hanging on every word crafting your personal life around what this guy says? Especially almost 2 years later.

I just want to say that if you actually ask your guests to show you proof of vaccination, you’re a tremendous asshole. At least take their word for it if you’re going to do a vax-only gathering lol https://t.co/znOVUxlplw
