Heartbreaking footage reportedly out of Minnesota appears to show a break-in, during which a giggling mob assaulted a young woman and her mother, before fleeing the scene.

While the current facts of the case are unclear, with one outlet alleging unconfirmed reports indicating the cause of the attack was a sexual assault allegation, the video is a glimpse into the events of that night.

It begins with the group exiting an elevator and walking down a hallway of an apartment complex. There is a brief interaction with a man who was attempting to pass by them, appearing to be pushed for no reason by one of the people with the group, but they continue on until they reach the apartment of their intended alleged victims.

Two of the people from the group stand on either side of the door and knock. It is immediately opened and one of the people immediately steps inside the apartment, likely to keep the occupants from being able to close the door. The person at the door appears to get some kind of go-head, and in streams the group.

“What are you doing in my apartment?” one of the occupants asks but does not get an answer before the melee begins.

At the end of the video, the person filming can be seen running down the hallway and giggling, as though the events that just took place were quite normal, and perhaps something that person took joy in.

The mob is being identified on Twitter as a group of “Somali youths,” though the veracity of those claims is unclear at this time.

The video quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of views on Twitter, with people voicing their outrage at the violent video:

For what it’s worth, video of the incident posted by Twitter user “Ahmed” directs people with information on the assault to the Minnesota police, and alleges that one of the victims is a “Somali Tiktoker named Najma.”

Replies to the video decried the events, and some even took screenshots of faces from the video, perhaps in an effort to help the authorities identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
