With the scary new omicron variant laying the groundwork for a new and rapidly intensifying fear campaign, the networks trotted out Dr. Anthony Fauci on the Sunday morning shows as the nation will soon be subjected to another onslaught of panic and propaganda spearheaded by the smug career bureaucrat.

Despite Fauci’s constant flip-flopping and moving of the goalposts, he continues to be the nation’s face of COVID as President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser and, while he has taken some hits in terms of credibility, he remains the media’s go-to guy when it comes to dispensing the administration’s talking points.

The head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases appeared on CBS’s “Face The Nation” when during an interview with fawning host Margaret Brennan, he rejected criticism from Republican lawmakers including Sen. Rand Paul who has repeatedly grilled him during his appearances for testimony before the Senate by claiming that he is above reproach because anyone who dares to criticize him is attacking science.

During his chat with Brennan, Fauci scoffed at the notion that he should be subjected to legitimate congressional oversight.

“Anybody who’s looking at this carefully realizes there’s a distinct anti-science flavor to this, so if they get up and criticize science nobody’s going to know what they’re talking about,” he said, “but if they get up and they really aim their bullets at Tony Fauci well people can recognize that there’s a person there so it’s easy to criticize but they’re really criticizing science because I represent science, that’s dangerous.”

The rejection of the notion that he be subjected to legitimate congressional oversight drew a swift and severe response from Senator Paul who took to Twitter to take the career bureaucrat down a peg or two.

“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity,” Paul wrote.

It isn’t the first time that Fauci has suggested that he is “the science” but he took his brazen arrogance to an entirely new level during his chat with Brennan.

In addition to wrapping himself in the science, he also trashed the two Republican senators.

“So anybody who spins lies and threatens and all that theatre that goes on with some of their investigations and the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls and all that other nonsense, that’s noise Margaret, that’s noise.” Fauci smugly declared. “I know what my job is”

Brennen then brought up Senator Ted Cruz, another who has dared to question the high priest of COVID and has called for him to be prosecuted.

Fauci diabolically snickered, then suggested that the Texas Republican is the one who should be prosecuted, inferring that Cruz was involved with the so-called “insurrection” on January 6, an event that has allowed Democrats to portray their political adversaries as terrorists and criminals.

He then answered Brennan’s softball question on whether he’s being scapegoated for Trump’s alleged failures, “Of course, you have to be asleep not to figure that one out.”

However, the CBS interview with Brennan may yet backfire on Fauci who has been able to get away with his scamming of the public at least partially on the basis of him being a kindly, grandfatherly figure. But his mocking and menacing demeanor only succeeded in showing his true colors to those who are paying attention.
