Has Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis been copying former President Donald Trump’s mannerisms, or is this just a coincidence? #BlueAnon members would like to know.

For months now, some have been drawing attention to the admittedly undeniable fact that the two men share some similarities in the way they move their hands as they speak.

This has led to speculation from #BlueAnon that the governor, whom many suspect may be eyeing a run for the presidency in 2024, has purposefully been “copying” the former president’s mannerisms.

The latest rehash of this theory came Friday when The Recount posted a compilation contrasting both men’s hand gestures.

Look:

“Is Ron DeSantis copying Trump?” the caption above reads.

Though not as well-known as outlets like ABC and NBC, The Recount is still establishment enough that its compilation wound up making it onto MSNBC.

Watch:

“Whether intentional or not, it’s remarkable how much Gov. DeSantis is now moving and acting like the former president,” MSNBC political analyst Jonathan Lemire said in the clip above.

Some on the right have also noticed the similarities, though they don’t appear to believe it’s from DeSantis “copying” Trump.

If anything, they seem to believe that the Florida governor is and has always been Trump-like, with the only real difference being that he lacks some of Trump’s character flaws, namely his troublesome habits.

Over on the left, it seems the overwhelming consensus is that DeSantis is purposefully “copying” Trump because he’s that dastardly of a cunning villain.

This veritable conspiracy theory doesn’t appear to be grounded in any facts, but that’s likely not much of a surprise.

Leading the #BlueAnon charge is the discredited Lincoln Project, of course:

Look:

Again, there’s no evidence to substantiate this theory. If anything, the fact that Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also uses similar hand gestures suggests that these gestures are simply more commonplace than they realize.

In fact, hand gestures, in general, tend to be commonly shared by people, as noted in the mocking tweet posted below in response to the Lincoln Project.

In additional tweets, critics poked fun at other coincidences:

DeSantis’s tenure in office has been chockablock with attempts by the establishment left to attack and smear him in one way or another.

The recent focus (aside from the hand gestures non-scandal scandal) has mainly been on his otherwise successful handling of the coronavirus. To hear them tell it, he killed tens of thousands of people by not imposing strict coronavirus restrictions.

Yet Florida’s COVID death rates per capita are surpassed by a number of Democrat strongholds, including Massachusetts and New York, according to data from Statistica.

Meanwhile, Florida currently boasts the lowest COVID case per capita rate in the country, though DeSantis has received zero credit from the mainstream left for this.

When it comes to the Florida governor, it seems the only time the establishment left speak about him is when there’s an opportunity to attack.
