Psaki defends Biden after violation of D.C. mask order: ‘Don’t overly focus on moments in time’

President Joe Biden was slammed by critics after he was caught bare-faced during a visit to a posh Washington D.C. eatery, a violation of the city’s indoor mask mandate and yet another example of the “rules are for thee and not for me” attitude of Democrats when it comes to COVID.

The POTUS and Dr. Jill Biden capped off a busy day when they dined at Fiola Mare, a pricey Georgetown restaurant that is described on its website as being “inspired by Italy’s coastlines and the bounty of its most pristine seafood” where menu items include $85 Australian wagyu rossini and whole roasted monkfish tail alla piccata for $95.

While it is unclear what the Bidens dined on during what the White House described as “date night,” what is clear is that they disobeyed Democrat Mayor Murial Bowser’s restrictive order that requires masks must be worn in restaurants except when eating or drinking, a rule that also applies to those who have been vaccinated.

Faced with a question during Monday’s press briefing by bulldog reporter Peter Doocy of Fox News on whether the maskless couple might be sending the wrong message to Americans, White House press secretary Jen Psaki was condescending and dismissive, defending her boss’s hypocrisy.

Doocy asked, “There is a mask requirement inside D.C. restaurants, yet President Biden and the first lady were not wearing masks while walking around a D.C. restaurant on Saturday. Why?”

Psaki responded, “Well, I think what you’re referring to is a photo of them walking out of a restaurant after they had eaten, masks in hand, where they had not yet put them back on yet.”

“So, I would say, of course, there are moments when we all don’t put masks back on as quickly as we should,” she continued, “but I don’t think we should lose…miss…lose the forest through the trees here in that our objective here is to get more people vaccinated, make sure that schools and companies around the country can put in place requirements to save more lives and keep people safer and, you know, not overly focus on moments in time that don’t reflect overarching policy.”

Doocy followed up, “It was not just exiting the restaurant, though. He was walking through the restaurant with no mask on. There is a carveout for people under two or people who are actively eating or drinking. So I’m just curious why the president was doing this.”

Psaki refused to answer the question, “I think I just addressed it, Peter.”

Video of the incident shows that Biden flagrantly violated the city’s mask order which only serves to confirm the suspicions of skeptics who contend that masks are merely partisan political theater.

Biden was also defended on ABC’s “The View” which serves as a distributor of Democrat talking points to a daytime television audience, primarily women, a key demographic in the party’s pursuit of total political power.

On Tuesday, host Joy Behar refused to admit the confusion caused by Biden’s mixed message on masks and, instead, she carped about the “mask police” at rival network Fox News.

“I love this right-wing B.S. that goes on on Fox News. All they do is tell you don’t wear a mask, don’t get vaccinated,” She said. “and now they see, oh my goodness, Joe Biden — he’s triple-vaxxed already. He was just eating. He’s gonna put it on in two seconds and all of a sudden the mask police come out of the woodwork at Fox.”

Biden’s slip up exposed both the hypocrisy and the elitism of the modern Democratic Party and his defenders are desperate to keep a mask on what should be obvious to all by now.
