Sen. Hawley confronts Deputy AG over FBI’s order he says targets already-intimidated powerless parents

The backlash continues to build following the Biden administration’s weaponizing of the federal government against its political adversaries, this time sending the FBI after parents who dare to hold school board members accountable for the teaching of the toxic principles of Critical Race Theory and Senate Republicans are demanding answers.

The war on parents was formally announced by Attorney General Merrick Garland who, on Monday, issued a memorandum in which he claimed that “a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff,” made it necessary for the Justice Department and the FBI to take action in a chilling abuse of power.

The dramatic escalation was spurred by a letter to President Biden from the National School Boards Association demanding the use of the PATRIOT Act against parents and is just the latest attack on freedom by a president whose contempt for traditional American values such as freedom of speech and political activity is unprecedented.

Associated Press fact-checkers refuted claims that the National School Boards Association asked Biden to label protesting parents “domestic terrorists,” noting that NSBA CEO Chip Slaven said in a statement that those reports are “absolutely false.”

The Justice Department’s latest witch hunt was met with a harsh response Tuesday when Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco was put on the spot over Garland’s memo during the hearing that was originally scheduled on the Violence Against Women act.

One senator who noted the unprecedented action by the DOJ was Josh Hawley of Missouri who likened the action to the infamous McCarthy era.

“Practically every day brings new reports about this administration weaponizing the federal bureaucracy to go after political opponents, frankly I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like it in American history,” Hawley addressed Monaco. “I mean for those of us who missed the McCarthy era, I guess this president is intent at bringing it to us but with new force and new power and new urgency unlike anything, we’ve ever seen.”

He asked, “Are you aware of any time in American history when an attorney general has directed the FBI to begin to intervene in local school board meetings?”

Monaco denied that such a thing was taking place but Hawley wasn’t about to be gaslighted by the longtime Democrat party apparatchik.

Hawley followed up, “Let me ask you this, is parents waiting sometimes for hours to speak at a local school board meeting to express concerns about critical race theory or the masking of their students, particularly young children, is that, in and of itself, is that harassment and intimidation, is waiting to express one’s view at a school board meeting harassment and intimidation?” he asked.

Also peppering Monaco was Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, who asked, “Is it domestic extremism for a parent to advocate for their child’s best interests?”

“Is it domestic extremism for parents to oppose their children being taught to treat people differently because of race?” he asked although Monaco refused to provide a direct answer.

Hawley followed up his grilling of Monaco with an appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” where he told the popular Fox News host, “anytime that this administration doesn’t like opposition, anytime it doesn’t like a political point of view, they try to silence it, and they’re willing to use federal law enforcement power to do it.”

“But to use it against parents, I mean things are just getting really crazy when they’re using it against parents.”

Despite his campaign promises of “unity” President Joe Biden has proven to be a man who has complete disdain for the rights of any Americans other than those loyal to the Democratic Party and the extremist ideology that powers it and has no qualms about using the FBI as a political Gestapo.

This has been evident since the events of January 6 when the bureau was unleashed on Trump supporters. The persecution of parents is just the next step as America flirts with a dark totalitarian future under a ruthless political party that seeks to tear down institutions in order to “build back better” to their liking.
