With 2024 run looming, MSNBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner suggests citizen’s arrest of Trump for his ‘obvious crimes’

The grim reality is finally starting to dawn on the leftist establishment that despite throwing everything at him including multiple kitchen sinks, that former President Donald J. Trump remains a formidable force who is likely to retake the White House if he chooses to run again.

Trump continues to bedevil his political enemies as he has done ever since he rode the escalator down to the lobby at Trump Tower to declare his candidacy in 2015 and in the ensuing years, he has survived an onslaught that included a special counsel witch hunt after being falsely accused of being in cahoots with the Kremlin, a number of sex-related smear campaigns and most impressively, two failed efforts to impeach him, one coming after he had already left office.

With President Biden flailing as his popularity plummets and Americans taking up chants of “F**k Joe Biden” across the nation, and the manifestly unqualified V.P. Kamala Harris being even more, disliked, Trump and the Republicans could very well run the table in 2024, a prospect that has already led to much weeping and gnashing of teeth on the left.

One exasperated MSNBC pundit who has been flummoxed over the inability to find the silver bullet that would end Trump’s political career is suggesting that Democratic party foot soldiers should consider the idea of a citizen’s arrest of the nation’s 45th president before he is able to resume the process of draining the swamp.

Glenn Kirschner, a former federal prosecutor — who like so many other deep state figures now draws a paycheck from MSNBC — called for the extraordinary measure during a Friday appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Dean Obeidallah Show.”

Kirschner served up his outside of the box solution after the host praised a tweet by Rep. Bill Pascrell of New Jersey, an unhinged lawmaker who previously called for Trump and his “enablers” to be tried for “crimes against our nation and Constitution,” the 84-year-old Democrat has also demanded that Nancy Pelosi strip House Republican “traitors” of their seats using a section of the 14th Amendment intended to apply to the Civil War era.

“This is what I want to see from more Democrats!” exclaimed Obeidallah. “It takes an 84-year-old Italian American guy from Jersey where I’m from and he went to Fordham like I went to Fordham where we speak bluntly and I don’t know why we don’t see from others. So what’s your reaction to Congressman Pascrell?”

Kirschner responded, “You know Dean, I’m glad he’s speaking the sort of objective truth. When somebody commits crimes they need to be held accountable, they need to be arrested, indicted, and tried by a jury of their peers,” he said. “It seems like so many of our politicians are just sort of content to dither our democracy away.”

“I don’t understand it and you know I want to go back to and it’s a related point when you sort of jokingly at first suggested a citizen’s arrest,” He continued. “Here’s the thing: Somebody needs to answer the question for us what happens when our Department of Justice, when our law enforcement authorities, decide they will not enforce the criminal laws of the United States? Because that is thus far what it looks like they’re deciding.”

Kirschner added, “What are we left to do? I mean a citizen’s arrest doesn’t sound as, you know, out of bounds or comical as it might otherwise sound when you when you’re talking about a former president.”

“What are we left to do?” he repeated. “I’d love an answer from the Department of Justice if they’re unwilling to prosecute a former president for trying to unconstitutionally retain power, trying to overthrow our democracy, lying to the people at your pre-insurrection pep rally, and using those people as but a weapon in your hand pointing them in the Capitol and telling them to go and they go and they attacked the Capitol trying to stop what’s going on in the building which was Donald Trump’s instruction,” Kirschner said, grossly exaggerating the events of January 6.

“What are we the people to do? Because then a citizen’s arrest doesn’t look so out of bounds,’ he said again.

Kirschner also recently called for the indictment of former Trump strategist Steve Bannon who he accused of attempting to overthrow “our democracy,” a term often invoked by the authoritarian left that in reality is closer to classic fascism than the political system that once made the U.S. the envy of the world before Democrats came to embrace the governing strategy of history’s most notorious totalitarian regimes.

The gnawing dread at the idea that Trump will run was also expressed by Robert Kagan, one of the Beltway’s most cherished intellectuals and an ardent cheerleader for the state of permanent war who recently penned a screed for the Washington Post urging that the filibuster be eliminated in order to allow Democrats the power to rig the election and implement a one-party system.

The more that scoundrels like Kirschner and his ilk bray about protecting “democracy” as a cloak for their totalitarian methods, the closer real democracy comes to extinction.
