The Biden administration’s refusal to enforce U.S. immigration laws at the U.S. southern border has prompted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to tackle the problem at the state level. This week, Abbott sent hundreds of Texas Department of Public Safety vehicles to create a “steel wall” to block migrants from crossing the border into the United States, The Hill reported.
The Governor told Fox News on Tuesday the wall of vehicles prevented people from “walking into the state of Texas.” The defensive measure comes amid a worsening crisis at the Texas/Mexico border, as thousands of Haitians have descended on the port of entry in Del Rio, TX, adding to the swelling number of migrants from South American countries. They are living in a makeshift camp underneath a concrete bridge at the edge of the border town.
“If Biden stepped up and followed that court order, we would not see the chaos that we’re seeing in Del Rio today,” Abbott told the outlet.
Abbott added via tweet that his state was “doing Biden’s job for him.”

We’re doing Biden’s job for him.
I’m headed to Del Rio today.

A federal appeals court earlier this month overturned a judge’s order blocking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from shifting its immigration enforcement policies, a win for the Biden regime. Abbott has supported both the construction of the border wall as well as hardline immigration practices.
“Because the Biden administration has been promoting and allowing open border policies, it has been the state of Texas that had to step up,” Abbott said Tuesday from Del Rio.
The Biden administration has said it will ramp up its deportations of Haitian migrants from the region.
The Biden administration has also faced mounting criticism of its handling of the crisis. On Monday, photos emerged of border patrol agents chasing migrants around on horseback which set the collective hair of the Left on fire and prompted claims that agents were using whips on the people, conjuring up images of slavery among the culturally ignorant who don’t understand how horses are used.
Some, including the National Fraternal Order Of Police, the largest police organization in the U.S. were quick to point out that the “whips” were actually the reins. They responded to the accusations with this hilarious tweet:
For all you Twitter warriors out there: these are NOT whips. And no, Border Patrol agents are NOT “whipping” people.
They are REINS… Stay with us here, like a steering wheel is used to drive a car, the reins are used to “drive” the horse.

On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told lawmakers that he was “horrified” at the images that came out of Del Rio, according to U.S. News.
“I was horrified to see the images, and we look forward to learning the facts that are produced from the investigation, and we will take actions that those facts compel,” he said.
And still unable to develop a sense of irony, or perhaps just too obtuse to have her job, Vice-President Harris said on Tuesday that the Biden administration – of which she is the Border Czar – needed to conduct a thorough investigation of the Biden administration in order to determine why the situation is so poorly handled.
Gov. Abbott continued on Fox News, saying, “You know, I have not yet heard from the President during this his entire presidency concerning the border. The Biden Administration refuses to even pretend as though there’s a crisis.”
“Laura, there was a report out today. The report contained comments by a Border Patrol agent. The Border Patrol agent said that the reason why control was able to be gained in the Del Rio sector today is because of the Texas Department of Public Safety. What we did, we put hundreds of Texas Department of Public Safety cars and created a steel wall. A Steel Wall of DPS vehicles that prevented anybody from crossing that dam that we’ve seen people walk across, walking into the State of Texas.
We effectively, as the officer said, regained control of the border in the Rio Grande sector because the Texas Department of Public Safety stepped up.”
Time will tell if the tactic holds fast or if it ends up being largely symbolic.
