Comedian Seth Rogan torched the elitist Emmy Awards on Sunday, joking about the lack of COVID safety precautions with not a mask to be seen anywhere unless of course, you were the hired help.
“Let me start by saying there is way too many of us in this little room! What are we doing?” Rogan began as the audience laughed awkwardly. “They said this was outdoors! It’s not! They lied to us.”
“I would not have come to this,” he declared half-jokingly as he pointed out that the tent was a “hermetically sealed tin.” “Why is there a roof? It is more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided.”
The 2021 Emmy Awards is one of the few awards shows that have reverted to normal attendance without masks or real social distancing, although they claim that everyone had to be vaccinated and show proof of it before attending.

Rogan, 39, continued taking a poke at the event over the lack of precautions before presenting the first trophy of the evening.
“This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face. That’s a big week,” he noted, referring to the “WandaVision” star. “If anyone is going to sneeze in my face, Paul, I want it to be you. All right, that’s all the jokes I wrote.”
Eugene Levy is a Canadian actor and comedian. He’s 74-years-old and that is why Rogan referred to him in his monologue. Levy is at risk for COVID due to his age.
“You had to get vaxxed to come here,” host Cedric the Entertainer said. “I did not have a reaction like Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend,” he added, referring to the rapper’s tweet. “I got Pfizer because I’m bougie. Pfizer, that’s the Neiman Marcus of vaccines, Moderna, that’s Macy’s. Johnson & Johnson, that’s TJ Maxx.”
While the Emmys show was lauded for being held outdoors, the tent that encased the awards show and approximately 800 attendees, was sealed and air-conditioned.
It was telling that the stars all went maskless at the 73rd Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, hugging and kissing one another while the hired help was forced to cover their faces while working at the event.

In August, the Emmy Awards announced that the show would be moved outdoors due to the rise in COVID cases amid the spread of the Delta variant.
“The Television Academy and CBS have decided to host all ceremonies…on the Event Deck at L.A. LIVE, directly behind the Microsoft Theater,” the Television Academy announced in a statement, explaining that the changes were put in place after discussions with Los Angeles County health and safety experts.
Tables were used instead of row seating to somehow claim that social distancing was adhered to.
The changes reportedly limited the number of attendees and organizers, “Unfortunately, this means not all nominees will be able to attend this year’s awards.” However, it sure looked like every single celebrity was in attendance in the crowded venue.
Rogan trended on social media after his remarks:
No distancing, no masks. Clearly a slap in the face for all the font line workers that are still dealing with the pandemic. Check your privilege @TheEmmys #Emmys

It sucks that there are no masks at the Emmys. Missed opportunity and also you can catch COVID and die.
