Photo of Biden posing with decked out MAGA kids has social media wondering if he was duped

With President Joe Biden’s approval rating in the tank after the Afghanistan debacle, where the commander-in-chief left hundreds of Americans behind enemy lines to fend for themselves, the president reverted back to his unity theme while marking the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

And what says unity more than a photo of Biden with a bunch of MAGA kids, right?

A photo of Biden purportedly posing with a group of kids while in Shanksville, Penn., on Saturday is making the rounds online, with more than one person suggesting he was punked. In the photo, one young girl is wearing a red baseball cap with “Trump” on it, while another is wearing a blue “MAGA” hat. A young boy is seen sporting a red t-shirt with Trump’s image on it, along with the message: “I’ll Be Back”

Given all the concerns about the 78-year-old president’s cognitive decline, the first instinct here is to believe he was duped, not being aware of the “MAGA” kids, which is certainly what many suggested on social media:

Though, one parent did suggest that we can all come together, presumably tongue in cheek, noting that her daughter was wearing a BLUE Trump hat.

While some were certain that Biden was being trolled, others saw the photos as a gesture of goodwill, as if the president was fully aware of what was happening and played along as a good sport for the sake of the children.

Phil Kerpen, a conservative free-market policy analyst and former vice president of Americans for Prosperity, appeared to take this view.

“Sincerely, I love that Biden took this picture. And I guarantee these kids thought it was awesome too, even the ones in the Trump hats,” Kerpen tweeted.

In the photo, Biden can be seen with his mask pulled down while posing in a tight group with the children, which is somewhat ironic given that the Department of Education, under his direction, announced last week a civil rights investigation was being initiated against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ ban on mask mandates in local school districts.

At this stage of the game, the one thing we know is that Biden has a thing with kids. You could even say they are a weak point.

There was a video making the rounds Saturday of Biden almost running to greet a child in a roped off area as he walked along with former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Hecklers can be heard booing Biden, and as the president leaned down to meet the child, one of them called out, “Don’t sniff ’em!”
