U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, slammed Democrats on Thursday for ignoring the out-of-control crisis on the southern border with Mexico, a crisis that not only features “kids in cages” but the importing of thousands of cases of COVID-19.
After pointing out that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was on the border this week to get a firsthand look at the disaster, Fox News host Harris Faulkner noted that an impeachment effort against the secretary was being pushed. She added that large numbers of migrants pouring across the open border are infected with the coronavirus — in Laredo, Texas, 40% of illegal immigrants tested positive for the virus.
Appearing on the “The Faulkner Focus,” Roy said he was in agreement with the idea that what is happening on the border is a national security crisis.
“Secretary Mayorkas and President Biden and, obviously Vice President Harris, are completely M.I.A.,” he said. “And I think, frankly, it’s purposeful. They are purposely ignoring their duty to defend the borders of the United States.”
“When I last visited you on your show it was June 30th, if I remember correctly, when President Trump was joining Gov. Abbott at the border,” Roy added. “We talked about the crisis then. Since that time we have now had an additional 210,000 apprehensions. But worse than that we’ve had 40,000 known got-aways — that’s not counting the unknown got-aways. We have had thousands of pounds of fentanyl coming into our country.”

There have been over a million apprehensions of illegal immigrants this year, with the record flow of humanity reaching 200,000 a month, as the media all but ignores the crisis.
The congressman stressed that Texas residents are being put in danger, detailing the various risks, and said Democrats too are ignoring what’s happening on the ground.
“We know that 7,000 Covid-positive people were dumped into the communities of McAllen,” Roy said. “And Mayorkas and Biden and Harris don’t care. Yet, we’re the ones in danger.”
“You have seen the photos, and I hope you show them to the people, that we’ve been putting out there that Border Patrol agents are sharing,” he added. “Where is AOC, where are all the cries about kids in cages that we heard two years ago? Where are all the cries about allegedly kids drinking out of toilets, which by the way, those were all untrue. Those were lies.”
By now, we’ve all seen the staged photos of U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., outside a Texas border detention facility in 2018, seemingly crying over the poor treatment of migrant children — she was actually gazing onto a parking lot, which the camera angles carefully avoided.
The Republican lawmaker noted that during the Trump administration, the crisis on the border was being dealt with humanely. Today, with the border being overrun, it’s a humanitarian disaster.
Roy discussed the impeachment process against the DHS secretary, but with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., controlling the House, it’s not going anywhere
“What we’re looking at here is something where the American people are in danger, the migrants are in danger,” he explained. “We’re allowing narcotics, we’re allowing drugs to flow into our community. We have individuals’ children who are dying because they have Xanax laced with Fentanyl. We have gang activity, cartel activity. Cartels have full operational control of the border.”
Roy said they need to present the articles to make the case for “why the secretary has abdicated his responsibility to faithfully execute the laws of the United States.”
“The secretary needs to go, and the president needs to go after him if he won’t do his job,” he concluded.
