President Joe Biden’s decision to make a joke at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s expense prompted the governor to in turn make a seemingly far more brutal joke at his expense.

The latest round of the two’s ongoing beef started Thursday when a reporter asked the president to respond to the governor’s fierce denunciation of him and his policies.

“Governor who?” the president snarkily replied, triggering a little laughter.

The governor responded the following day by turning the joke against Biden.

“I guess I’m not surprised that Biden doesn’t remember me. I guess the question is what else has he forgotten?” he said while speaking at Chipola College, triggering what one could argue was more laughter than Biden had triggered.

The joke was a reference to Biden’s seemingly poor mental faculties.

But DeSantis didn’t stop there.

“Biden’s forgotten about the crisis on our southern border, I can tell you that. Biden has forgotten about the inflation that’s biting the budgets of families all throughout our country. Biden has forgotten about the demonstrators who were fighting for freedom down in Cuba, and Biden’s even forgotten about the Constitution itself, as we saw with what he did with this moratorium,” he continued.

“And I can just tell you, I’m the governor who protects parents and their ability to make the right choices for their kids’ education. I’m the governor who protects the jobs and education and businesses in Florida by not letting the federal government lock us down. I’m the governor who answers to the people of Florida, not to bureaucrats in Washington,” he added.

Listen:

Earlier in the week, renowned conservative radio show host and commentator Ben Shapiro argued that it’s this ability to fiercely but still professionally skewer his political opponents that makes DeSantis such a threat to the Democrat Party.

The problem with former President Donald Trump, Shapiro has long argued, is that he was temperamental and would easily lose his cool. This led to him frequently delivering rants so “offensive” that the alleged offense became the story instead of the usual 100 percent valid points he’d been trying to make.

The Florida governor’s verbal precision has allowed him to avoid this error while still excoriating his political opponents, from President Biden to even Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top-level administration health official who’s become a blatant political actor.

His latest feud with the administration stems from his refusal to abide by their draconian demands that he force his constituents to mask up, even if vaccinated.

His refusal to comply led to the president, Fauci, White House press secretary Jen Psaki, other administration officials, and their media allies all singling out Florida, as if coronavirus cases aren’t in fact surging throughout the entire country.

Fed-up with the trash-talking, he finally responded with a lengthy speech Wednesday in which he not only defended his policies but also blasted the administration’s policies.

“Joe Biden has taken to trying to single out Florida over COVID. This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to ‘shut down the virus,’” he said.

Yet the president hasn’t “shut down the virus.” Instead, he’s essentially imported it into the United States by having “hundreds of thousands of people pouring across every month” from “over a hundred different countries,” the governor added.

“Not only are they letting them through, they’re then farming them out all across our communities, across this country, putting them on planes, putting them on buses. Do you think they’re being worried about COVID for that? Of course not,” he continued.

“So he’s facilitating who knows what new variants are out there. But I can tell you, whatever variants are around the world, they’re coming across that southern border. And so he’s not shutting down the virus; he’s helping to facilitate it in our country.”

The speech sent shockwaves through the political realm because it wasn’t just powerful but also factual and professional as well.

It was, in fact, this speech that Biden had been responding to when he asked, “Governor who?”

According to the public, the answer to that question is the governor who knocked his butt out cold and is likely to do so again in three years.
