James Golden on how woke athletes are killing the Olympics, and the American spirit

Former Rush Limbaugh Show producer James Golden, also known as “Bo Snerdley,” tore into the Olympics on Monday stating that he was disappointed in athletes participating in “woke” politics that are destroying the Games in order to please activists and the media.

On “Fox News Primetime,” Golden told host Tammy Bruce: “Normally I would say to you OK, I’m not buying it because athletes are so competitive and they are worried about their own competitive state and their own achievement that they wouldn’t let these kinds of things hurt them – But then again, look at what they’re being competitive with now.”

“The competition isn’t about being the very best you can be on the athletic field. The competition seems to be about being the best you can be for the media,” he sadly remarked. “Now you are wondering what your teammates think of you if you are pro-American. Imagine that. And so here’s what we’re left with.”

“And you know this if you are a performer, if you are getting ready to do your show or any show and someone comes up to you before the show with some drama, any kind of drama, it’s going to affect the way that you do your show. You can’t help it,” Golden stated, alluding to the performance of American athletes at the Olympics.

The host of “The Man Behind the Golden EIB Microphone” podcast said it is disappointing to watch athletes shift their focus away from athletics and instead aim it toward impressing political activists and the media.

“These are the most highly tuned athletes. Look what is put before them before they are on the world stage. It’s a shame. Do you know what else is a shame? It’s a shame when the women’s soccer team lost there were many in America who said ‘Good, they deserved to lose,’” he noted.

The comment was in response to Bruce pointing out that the Team USA women’s soccer players, including Californians Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan, took a knee prior to their game just before they got stomped 3-0 by Sweden.

Rapinoe would go on to defend taking a knee despite her team’s epic loss.

“It’s an opportunity for us to continue to use our voices and use our platforms to talk about the things that affect all of us intimately in different ways,” she said.

“We have people from Team USA, from all over the country, from all backgrounds, and people literally from all over the world for every other team so I obviously encourage everyone to use that platform to the best of their ability to do the most good that they possibly can in the world, especially as all eyes are on Tokyo these next couple weeks,” she added. “We’re on the global stage, with the world’s media, and eyeballs and people’s attention, all drawn to one place with a collection of incredible athletes from all over the world, who care a lot about what they’re doing here in Tokyo in terms of their sport, and who care a lot about a lot of other things.”

Golden also sounded off about the “resentment” within Team USA from other players who aren’t all-in for the social justice politics of other team members.

“Remember when the Olympics were fun. We used to marvel at their performances, marvel at their individual achievements. Today, the news stories aren’t about their achievements. The news stories are about everything but their achievement,” he stated, referring to the focus on “woke” politics and the media rather than sports competition.

Three-time Olympian Lolo Jones apparently agrees with Golden. She blasted Olympic protests on Monday, claiming that a notable segment of viewers is tuning out of the Games because of the politicization of the Olympics. Jones argued that there’s actually a “delicate balance” between sports and social activism.

“I think sometimes people just want to tune in to watch sports, to just watch sports, and they’re not there for the political side of it,” Jones noted to “America Reports.”

“But then on the athlete’s side, the athletes are like, ‘this is the biggest platform I’ve ever had and I want to speak my causes,’” she added.

Americans weren’t the only ones to take a knee in protest. So did athletes representing Britain, New Zealand, Sweden, and Chile.

The United States is not doing well in the Games this time around. Bruce also brought up Team USA’s men’s basketball team’s stunning loss to France. She called American coach Gregg Popovich a “rabid America-bashing leftist.”

Popovich, who is now 72, has previously called the United States a “racist country,” critics of Black Lives Matter “ignorant,” and has viciously attacked Trump as “deranged” while outrageously comparing his 2016 election win to the fall of Rome.

There’s not a lot of love for this year’s Olympics here in America:
