‘Olympic failure’: Ingraham goes off on ‘wokesters’ ruining historic event

Fox News host Laura Ingraham described how “woke” culture is influencing not only American’s but the entire global population as the Olympic Games kick off in Tokyo this week.

She pronounced the far left radicalization of the games an “Olympic failure.”

“We had obscene and unnecessary COVID rules – even for healthy young athletes leading up to [the opening ceremony],” the host said on her namesake show, “The Ingraham Angle.”

“A ban on most spectators, and an overload of Olympians who think we somehow care about their political views; Come on, there will be great performances, no doubt, but how boring is the lead-up,” she commented.

She explained that this year’s Olympics is completely juxtaposed to the past Olympics that focused on performances, and not politics.

She recalled the 1980 surprise U.S. victory over the Soviet Union’s hockey team that later became the basis for the feature-length film, “Miracle on Ice.” She also pointed out the “mesmerizing” talent of Maryland-born swimmer Michael Phelps and the more recent captivating gymnastics performance of Ohio-born Simone Biles in 2016.

“Whether it was President Reagan opening the 1984 Olympics or Bill Clinton at the 1996 Games in Atlanta, we rallied because we loved the country and we loved our athletes. And for a few weeks, we all put our differences aside about pretty much everything else. But today, things are different,” she explained.

“Now there are millions of Americans disgusted by the U.S. Women’s soccer team not because they lost to Sweden, but because they used the international stage to insult our nation. This isn’t what the Olympics is all about.”

Ingraham noted that previously the International Olympic Committee (IOC) banned public protests at the games. However, the policy was overturned earlier this month and the IOC announced that it will allow protests and use photos of players taking a knee in highlights and social media.

Due to the change in rules, Ingraham predicted this means, “we are going to get a lot more, not less, of what we don’t want to see.”

The former speechwriter for the Reagan administration also commented on the “absurdity bursting out all over” including the decision of the IOC to allow biological male athletes to compete as women.

“New Zealand’s Laurel Hubbard will lift in the super weight category – shamelessly taking a spot from a female competitor. Ditto for the USA’s Chelsea Wolf riding in Freestyle BMX – and Canada’s Stephanie Barrett in Archery,” Ingraham said.

In 2015, the IOC issued rules allowing biological men to compete against women as long as they maintain testosterone levels below 10 nanomoles per later for 12 months leading up to their first competition.

“Just today it was announced that German Olympic gymnasts will be wearing unitards to combat sexualization in gymnastics. The Olympics has sadly become one more experience ruined by self-promoting wokesters. It is sad that some are more concerned about social media brand building when what we actually want is their great competition,” Ingraham lamented.

“Today it’s a hard call as to which is more monolithically, militantly left-wing: Academia or the entertainment industry. Now, sadly, the same thing has happened to the world of sports, and in the end, no one ends up getting a medal.”
