MSNBC’s Joy Reid melts down over DeSantis, Noem sending Natl Guard to ‘nonexistent’ border crisis

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s pledge on Tuesday to send 50 South Dakota National Guard troops to assist with the border crisis in Texas, was apparently enough to launch MSNBC commentator Joy Reid into yet another delusional hissy fit.

The liberal pundit used terms such as the “Roaming Noem” and the “Inaugural Absolute Worst” to describe Noem while labeling the crisis at the southern border as “nonexistent.”

“It would appear that our inaugural Absolute Worst is jealous of all the attention that our two record-holders, Republican Governors Greg Abbott of Texas and Florida’s Ron DeSantis, and so she’s sending South Dakota’s National Guard troops roaming, deploying them to the southern border of Texas, joining MAGA sycophant DeSantis and the governors of Iowa and Nebraska in sending ‘help’ to the border,” Reid said during her Reid Out segment. “Fifty National Guard troops are being deployed in response to Greg Abbott’s plea for more border security for a nonexistent crisis.”

This is not the first time that Reid, who has one of the lowest-rated shows on MSNBC, made outrageous claims about the border crisis.

In March, Reid claimed that the nonexistent crisis at the border was merely Republican caterwauling and a way for Republicans to use these unaccompanied children as a prop for fear-mongering.

Noem, who is considered a rising star in the GOP, announced on Tuesday that the small contingent of national guard troops would deploy to the southern border of Arizona and Texas, to assist other national guard troops, U.S. Border Patrol agents, and law enforcement personnel with the massive influx of undocumented immigrants.

“The border is a national security crisis that requires the kind of sustained response only the National Guard can provide,” Noem said. “We should not be making our own communities less safe by sending our police or Highway Patrol to fix a long-term problem President Biden’s Administration seems unable or unwilling to solve. My message to Texas is this: help is on the way.”

The National Guard troops will be on the southern border for up to 90 days and are being funded through private donations, USA Today reported.

On June 10, Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey sent out a joint letter urgently request help from states who could spare the manpower.

“Securing our border with Mexico is the federal government’s responsibility. But the Biden Administration has proven unwilling or unable to do the job,” the joint letter read.

Ducey added that agents had detained many coming across the border who were smuggling weapons and Fentanyl, as well as trafficking children.

Former President Donald Trump, who vowed to build a border wall during his 2016 campaign, was invited to tour the southern border by Abbott, which spurred Vice President Kamala Harris to reluctantly make her first trip to the southern border.

Harris, whom Biden appointed to monitor and respond to the southern border crisis, made her first trip to the West Texas border city of El Paso, which is connected by a bridge from Juarez, Mexico, and experiences significantly fewer illegal incursions than communities in Texas such as Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Laredo.

According to statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, patrol agents encountered more than 180,000 undocumented immigrants in May, compared with 23,234 in May 2020, and 104,311 in May 2019.

The statistics appear to reinforce Abbott’s and Ducey’s call for action, the Biden Administration’s utter failure at the southern border, and Reid’s ridiculous claim that the southern border crisis is a fallacy.

National Guard troops in Texas were deployed to areas along the Texas-Mexico border in May to help law enforcement agencies deal with the overwhelming number of illegal crossings.
