CNN appears to be pressed for hard news.
In spite of the latest threats of systemic Russian hacks impacting American infrastructure and supply chains, a crisis on the border, and a labor shortage, they are instead covering what fits their narrative. In this case, that’s a new book that claims the Second Amendment isn’t about the right to bear arms but, instead, deeply embedded racial inequity.
CNN reported: “‘The Second: Race and Guns in a Fatally Unequal America,’ [by] Carol Anderson argues that the Second Amendment is not about guns — it’s about anti-Blackness. She says it ‘was designed and has consistently been constructed to keep African-Americans powerless and vulnerable.’”
Reporter John Blake expands on this entirely new angle in the CNN piece featuring an interview with Anderson.
“Anderson cites legislative debates from the Founding Fathers and a range of historical records to make some bold points. She says some early lawmakers who supported the Second Amendment were more worried about armed Blacks than British redcoats. She says that even after the Civil War ended, many Southern states banned Black citizens from owning weapons,” he wrote.
“And that famous line about a ‘well-regulated militia?’ Well, that was inserted primarily to deal with potential slave revolts — not to repel a foreign army, she says,” Blake noted. “Anderson’s book is a fast-moving narrative with plenty of startling statements. She contends that the Second Amendment has never been applied equally to Black citizens.”
Blake’s line of questioning when interviewing Anderson put his lack of knowledge and true objective in full view:
“What would you say to people who argue the reason the Second Amendment was so important in the 18th and 19th centuries was not so much race but security? If you were a farmer isolated on the frontier, you needed guns to hunt, to protect crops from predators and defend your family.”
Anderson responded with a word salad that concluded with, “For me, the Second Amendment really isn’t about guns. It is about anti-Blackness. It’s not about guns and the access to guns to fend off bears.”
Blake asked Anderson how she felt about the Supreme Court taking up another Second Amendment case. Anderson said that her first thought was that SCOTUS would not address the “reality that anti-Blackness is really foundational to understanding the Second Amendment”.
Anderson continued on saying, “I look at it this way. After Sandy Hook, nothing happened. How could that be? That could be because of this underlying fear that if there are real gun safety laws then Whites will be left defenseless against these Black people.”
It is worth noting that the Sandy Hook shooter was a 26-year-old white man.
CNN may prefer to report on highfalutin nonsense from “scholars” who dogmatize the Second Amendment as “a bribe placed on Black bodies,” but Americans see through the agenda they are pushing.
And a narrative is born. Just like that. They all jump on board. pic.twitter.com/zS4j3jgikm

“Scholar” Carol Anderson?
How about “fiction author” Carol Anderson. https://t.co/uk5OBwNddR

No agendas here.

What a complete moron. It had to do with the Founding Fathers wanting freedom from England. I hope the book is a flop

What a load of crap.

The Constitution allows for freedom of speech too. Unfortunately, that includes ridiculous, made up crap.

Well it’s a new angle at least. Points for originality but still no

In her new book, Carol Anderson totally ignores the fact that free black men could, and often did, own firearms.

This is false, but does easily slide into the narrative.

The race hustle grift is strong in this one. If the facts don’t match your ideas, make up new facts.

Standard @CNN protocol: If nothing to write about, fabricate a racism story that will serve to divide and inflame the masses. Truth matters not.
