A new book is describing former President Barack Obama as a “parasite” on the Democratic Party, who only cared about getting reelected, and that he “never built a Democratic bench and never cared to.”
Journalist Edward-Isaac Dovere has a new book coming out entitled: “Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaign to Defeat Trump.” The book reportedly blasts Obama in a chapter called “Benign Neglect.” Obama’s aides allegedly went on about him abandoning the Democratic Party while he was in the White House.
“‘Negligence’ might be more accurate,” Dovere, who is a writer for The Atlantic and a former chief Washington correspondent for Politico, wrote.
“The numbers are hard to ignore: during his eight years in office, Obama oversaw a net loss of 947 state legislative seats, 63 House seats, 11 senators, and 13 governors,” Dovere noted in the book.
Democrats increased their majorities in both the House and the Senate in 2008 as Obama swept into office. In 2010, their grip on power started to slip as the Republicans took the majority in the House thanks to the Tea Party. Dems managed to hold on to their majority in the Senate but it was diminished. In 2014, they lost both majorities in the House and Senate to the Republicans under Obama’s watch.
The author posits that Obama carried himself with a “self-assured self-regard” that he seems to infer as arrogance and self-love.
“Obama never built a Democratic bench and never cared to, aside from a few scattered candidates who interested him,” Dovere stated.
He points out that Obama was defended for his actions because he didn’t want to “taint” his presidency with campaigning and fundraising. He simply wanted to govern. But, according to the author, Obama used his entire first term to utilize the party’s structure as a “host” to campaign for his second term as president.
Dovere also tears into Obama’s buddy Tim Kaine, who was chosen to head the Democratic National Committee even though he was governor of Virginia at the time. He lambasted Kaine for “commuting two days a week to oversee the pilfering of talent, money, resources, and purpose for the Obama reelection effort that was already underway.”
“In his second term, he cared about what happened to the husk as much as any parasite does,” Dovere harshly commented.
He also excoriated Obama for saddling the Democrats with a massive debt of $2.4 million that remained from his 2012 election. A deal was struck and the DNC took on the debt in exchange for “Obama for America” handing over its email list and the former president headlining fundraisers. Dovere also pointed out that Obama “takes no blame for the deterioration of the DNC infrastructure” because he raised more money than anyone else in its history.
“‘In hindsight, it’s hard not to see delusion in the self-assurance and the celebration and the sense of moving forward of those two weeks in America,” Dovere wrote, referencing Obama gloating over the Supreme Court upholding Obamacare and same-sex marriages being vindicated.
According to Dovere, Obama believed he could have beaten former President Trump if he had run for a third term, which is unconstitutional.
“Ultimately Obama’s math comes down to a simple calculation: he has suggested in conversations with people close to him that he thinks he would have won had he been able to be a candidate in 2016. The economy, the Democratic debris, Russia – if he could have run for a third term, even confronted with all these issues, he believes, he would have figured out how to pull a victory off anyway,” the author reported.
According to the book, Obama’s ego allegedly raged on the golf course and he brazenly bragged that his tweet sent after the Charlottesville rally in 2017 was liked more than anything ever tweeted by Trump.
Other extracts of the book have already come to light as well. Dovere claims that Obama also called Trump a “madman,” a “racist, sexist pig,” “that f***ing lunatic.” and a “corrupt motherf***er.” He also contends that Jill Biden told supporters that Kamala Harris could “go f**k herself” after she attacked Biden’s record on race during a 2019 debate. Biden also allegedly nailed Harris for the attack calling it “some f**king bulls**t.”
