NPR blatantly published false information when it claimed in its review of Hunter Biden’s new book that his laptop story was “discredited by U.S. intelligence” and they have now been forced to issue a ‘correction’.
The claim was made in connection to the review of Hunter Biden’s controversial new memoir, “Beautiful Things.” In the book, the president’s son details his time as a drug addict and as an alcoholic. Critics claim that he has left major controversies out of the book.
The review was initially written by NPR Senior Editor and correspondent Ron Elving. He wrote: “The last gasp of [Rudy Giuliani’s] campaign against the Bidens featured a laptop supposedly obtained from sources that would document the younger Biden’s drug use and other offenses. The laptop story was discredited by U.S. intelligence and independent investigations by news organizations.”
NPR proceeded to walk back their falsehood: “A previous version of this story said U.S. intelligence had discredited the laptop story. U.S. intelligence officials have not made a statement to that effect.”

The New York Post was the first to break the explosive Hunter Biden laptop story. Their efforts to report on the matter were squelched on social media as the story was blocked during Joe Biden’s campaign for the presidency. Media outlets also suppressed the story. The laptop allegedly contains emails concerning business dealings overseas that include contacts in Ukraine and China. It’s also intimated that there are compromising photos of Hunter Biden on the computer. The laptop has been in the possession of the FBI since 2019.
Ugh, NPR allowed this to be published:
The Hunter Biden laptop story "was discredited by U.S. intelligence and independent investigations by news organizations."
No, the contents of the laptop have not been discredited…https://t.co/kmyg7Umy99 @NPR pic.twitter.com/l5yx43auVN

NPR only issued the correction after getting torched by critics who called them out for making a false statement. But they are still insinuating that the laptop story is bogus by stating: “Numerous news organizations cast doubt on the credibility of the laptop story.”
NPR’s news editor, Terence Samuels, previously said in October that they would not cover the laptop story because “we don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories.”

In 2020, the FBI and DOJ definitively stated that Hunter Biden’s laptop and the emails that it contains were “not part of some Russian disinformation campaign” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) falsely claimed otherwise. That was after 50 ex-intelligence officials came forward and also claimed that it was. That assertion was led by Obama-era Director of National Intelligence James Clapper who was joined by former CIA Director John Brennan.
“Let me be clear: the intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that,” Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said. “And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff or any member of Congress.” He added that it was “simply not true.”
Hunter Biden is now saying that the laptop in question could definitely be his. He is also promoting the now-debunked Russian conspiracy angle

Many out there excoriated NPR for the dishonest reporting.
Conservative strategist Arthur Schwartz lambasted the reporter: “John Ratcliffe publicly & explicitly said that he had seen no intelligence suggesting that the laptop was part of any Russian disinformation campaign. @NPRrelving is a garbage reporter who shouldn’t be collecting a taxpayer-subsidized paycheck.”
Others lined up to take a shot at NPR for what they took as a politically slanted review:
This is purposefully done. Many still trust NPR…therefore misson accomplished..its out there and will be believed.

Sadly, NPR has long since lost its reliability & relevance. Once upon a time it was good. But that was decades ago. It just finally broadcast far far left propaganda. As a prop machine, it shouldn’t be funded by our tax $. They need to earn their way.

NPR is simply an arm of the Democratic Party. They both give aid and comfort to the enemy. Never forget.

So far today, Axios is pushing false narratives about riot damages from last summer and NPR pushing false narratives over the Hunter Biden laptop and its not even noon yet. Much concerned about spread of disinformation. Much credibility.
