Al Sharpton threatens Manchin, Sinema with the ‘r-word’ if they don’t get in line on the fillibuster

Notorious race hustler Al Sharpton has vowed to use phony accusations of racism to try and force Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to jettison the Senate filibuster and thus allow Democrats to establish what would be one-party rule.

The plan, he revealed to Politico this week, is to hold town halls in Manchin and Sinema’s states, and to focus those town halls on racial politics.

The pressure that we are going to put on Sinema and Manchin is calling [the filibuster] racist and saying that they are, in effect, supporting racism. Why would they be wedded to something that has those results? Their voters need to know that,” he said.

It’s a strategy that has also been embraced by the media, which have been publishing piece after piece after piece falsely linking the filibuster — which Democrats feverishly defended just a few short years ago and eagerly used just last year — of being linked to racism.

“A Republican policing reform measure collapsed in the Senate on Wednesday when Democrats lined up to block it after criticizing the legislation as an inadequate response to nationwide calls for action to address police misconduct and racial injustice,” CNN reported last June.

The effort to knock out Sen. Tim Scott’s police reform bill worked because of the allegedly “racist” filibuster that Democrats and their allies in the media now seek to eliminate.

Nowhere in the CNN report was any mention made of the filibuster’s allegedly “racist” functions. Yet here’s how CNN is framing the filibuster now that Democrats hold the upper hand instead of Republicans:

What changed?

The same question goes to Democrats, who in April 2017 — only months after then-President Donald Trump took office — enthusiastically joined with their Republican colleagues (who held the majority of Senate seats at the time) in writing a letter to Senate leaders declaring their unanimous support for preserving the filibuster.

“We are writing to urge you to support our efforts to preserve existing rules, practices, and traditions as they pertain to the right of Members to engage in extended debate on legislation before the United States Senate. Senators have expressed a variety of opinions about the appropriateness of limiting debate when we are considering judicial and executive branch nominations. Regardless of our past disagreements on that issue, we are united in our determination to preserve the ability of Members to engage in extended debate when bills are on the Senate floor,” the bipartisan group wrote.

“We are mindful of the unique role the Senate plays in the legislative process, and we are steadfastly committed to ensuring that this great American institution continues to serve as the world’s greatest deliberative body. Therefore, we are asking you to join us in opposing any effort to curtail the existing rights and prerogatives of Senators to engage in full, robust, and extended debate as we consider legislation before this body in the future.”

Bipartisan Senate Letter Calling for Preservation of Filibuster 2017 by V Saxena on Scribd

In a statement, Sen. Susan Collins added, “This letter demonstrates that a majority of the Senate, both Republicans and Democrats, can come together to protect an important tradition of the Senate that recognizes the rights of the minority and makes bipartisan legislation more likely.”

How quickly things change …

The Democrats’ newfound fervor for eliminating the filibuster comes as President Joe Biden is preparing to unleash a wave of radical left-wing legislation designed for “re-engineering America,” according to Axios.

This re-engineering would reportedly come through “a $5 trillion-plus overhaul of America, and vast changes to voting, immigration and inequality.

This means a $15 minimum wage, amnesty for illegal aliens, new entitlement spending, the possible elimination of gig work (which would affect an estimated 59 million Americans), the banning of certain guns, the banning of fracking, etc.

To perform this re-engineering, however, the filibuster must be eliminated, but Biden has made it clear has no qualms about that happening.

“People close to Biden tell us he’s feeling bullish on what he can accomplish, and is fully prepared to support the dashing of the Senate’s filibuster rule to allow Democrats to pass voting rights and other trophy legislation for his party,” Axios confirmed.

The only thing holding him back are Sinema and Manchin, which is why the Democrat Party’s most radical activists, including Rev. William Barber II, another notorious race hustler, are hellbent on attacking and smearing them.

“I said that to the Biden administration and said it to the Democrats, you cannot be serious about dealing with racism, and then you don’t get living wages done. And you’re never gonna get living wages done … and health care if you don’t push and fight against voter suppression,” Barber said to Politico.

Barber, who has no formal education in economics, seems to have no concern about the economic damage his desired policies, including a wealth tax, would engender.

In fact, all race hustlers like him and Sharpton seem to know is that fake accusations of racism are sometimes all it takes to make weak men and women collapse to their knees in subservience …
