Gov. Abbott reveals ‘humanitarian disaster’ at TX migrant facilities with COVID outbreak, unsafe water

President Joe Biden’s administration is providing no “usable running water” at one of its detention facilities for illegal alien children in Texas, according to Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott.

But unlike a similar claim — one that was quickly debunked — lodged two years ago against the Trump administration by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, it seems this one is actually backed by evidence.

Speaking on Fox News’ “America Reports” this Friday, Abbott provided a horrifying report on the condition of two specific illegal alien camps being run by the Biden administration — one in Carrizo Springs, and the other in Midland.

“What we learned in Midland, just in the past hour, [are] two things. One is they have no proven clean running water at the location. They were using well water that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has informed the federal government has not been proven to be safe,” he said.

“There’s no telling what could be in there, including the possibility of arsenic. So the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is evaluating the water, the running water. So there is no viable, usable running water at the location in Midland,” the governor added.

He was correct.

The mock detention facility for illegal alien children in Midland is actually an oilfield camp that the Biden administration hastily converted into a youth detention facility, according to Fort Worth station KXAS.

“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said running water at the Midland camp could be used only to flush toilets or wash clothes because officials aren’t sure whether the water is safe,” the station reported Friday.

The camp reportedly isn’t even licensed to run a public water system, so the Biden administration has been drawing water from a well to quench the thirst of their detained illegal alien children. Moreover, even the drilling of the web was reportedly performed without a permit.

“They just drilled the well. It’s a pretty shallow well, and that’s where the concern comes in for naturally occurring arsenic, nitrates possibly. Hopefully not oilfield pollutants, but they don’t know,” state Sen. Kel Seliger reportedly said.

As of Saturday morning, not a single mainstream outlet besides Fox News had reported on the conditions at Midland nor on its hasty opening.

According to Odessa station KWES, the facility was opened so quickly that officials were caught completely off guard.

“Mayor Payton said he wasn’t informed that federal agencies were taking action to open the emergency shelter until Sunday morning, just hours before the arrival of hundreds of juvenile migrants. … Officials say communication with federal agencies has been strained, as it has been difficult to pin down who is truly in charge,” KWES reported Tuesday.

After Ocasio-Cortez visited a detention facility in Texas in 2019, she claimed to the national media that the detained illegals were being told to drink water out of toilets because their sinks apparently weren’t functioning correctly.

Despite the claim being quickly debunked by multiple other parties, it went viral among the press and received far more attention than the debacle at Midland is currently receiving.

According to Abbott, over 10 percent of the illegal alien children at the Midland location have tested positive for the coronavirus. A similar number of illegals have tested positive for coronavirus at the Carrizo Springs camp as well.

Regarding the water crisis at Midland, U.S. Health and Human Services officials reportedly told KXAS that the water is OK.

It’s been “deemed potable and is tested regularly above standards,” the Biden administration officials claimed, though they reportedly refused to specify who’d tested the water for them and what the results of those tests were.

“HHS also did not answer questions about when it learned of concerns about the water,” the station reported.

Abbott stressed though on Fox News this Friday that his state officials are working on resolving the crisis.

“So the governor’s office and our state agencies have been in contact with federal Health and Human Services, as well as with FEMA, working with them on responding to this,” he said.

But he also noted that this should have never happened.

The Biden administration is showing they were completely unprepared for this massive influx. We’ve also heard that they’re looking at [opening] other locations in Dallas to deal with the consequences [of illegal aliens storming the border],” he said.

We do not yet know what it involves, but what we do know is this: The Biden administration is unprepared for the size and the number of people coming in, as well as the COVID and water health challenges. So this is a total disaster by the Biden administration.”
