Even with the coronavirus pandemic rapidly receding as millions of vaccinations are administered daily, American citizens like Terry White, a 65-year-old Texas woman, are still being manhandled and arrested for refusing to a wear a mask.

On Thursday, White stepped into a Bank of America in the Texas town of Galveston hoping to make a withdrawal. But instead, she wound up being arrested after she refused to don a mask and the authorities were called to intervene.

Bodycam footage from the incident shows an officer approaching her and telling her that she needs to leave, to which she responds by saying she needs to retrieve her money.

“My money’s in this bank, and I’m going to take it out,” she argues.

“Well then, you have to abide by the rules, and you have to have a mask on. … Businesses have the right to refuse service, even if you’re not wearing a mask. That’s their choice,” the officer replies.

White responds by explaining “that’s why I’m taking my money out.”

“Awesome. Well, you need to go and get a mask and then take your money out,” the officer responds again.

But she continued pushing back, leading him to warn her that “we’re going to do this the easy way or the hard way.”

He wasn’t kidding.

Watch the footage below:

White then scoffs at the officer’s threat and asks, “What are you going to do, arrest me?”

“Yes, for intruding on premises,” the officer replies.

“That’s hilarious. … Yeah, and you believe in this. Do you believe in this?” White says.

“The laws, yes,” the officer replies.

“The law says that I do not have to wear a mask,”  White argues.

She was referencing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to rescind the state’s mask mandate as of March 10th. The problem is that the mandate only ever pertained to public spaces, not private businesses, as the officer tried to explain.

“You’re not in public. This is not a public place. This is a private business,” he said in the video footage.

He then pleaded with her to follow him outside and reached for his handcuffs as she refused.

“Ooooh, now he’s got his gun. Is he going to shoot me, people? Is he going to shoot me for trying not to breathe?” White then shrieks.

She then starts to walk away from him and slaps his hand away when he reaches for her, prompting him into going full-bore on her.

“Who do you think you are!? Back up, back up! Some old lady is getting handcuffed here!” she yells as the officer proceeds to manhandle her.

“OWWWW!” she shrieks as she hits the ground.

“Are you serious? Is anyone going to get real here? No one’s going to get real? Wowwww. Oh, are you going to smash my head into the ground now?” she says.

Long story short, she wound up being put in cuffs, tossed into a police car, transported to a hospital and reportedly released. A warrant was later issued on charges of criminal trespass and resisting arrest, though White seems to have no regrets.

In an interview with Houston station KRIV, she seemed convinced that she’d done nothing wrong and that the rest of the world has been overreacting to the pandemic.

“Where do we draw the line? I have civil rights. This whole pandemic thing is a joke, and they’ve got people so scared to death, so paranoid. I don’t believe it’s real. No, I do not believe it’s real. I know for a fact, if you guys would do your research,” she said.

“I think it’s the flu. I had it last January before it was the COVID. I was sick for three weeks. I was really exhausted. I ate a bunch of vitamins. Check my vitamin D that I take every morning. … What I’m saying [is] do you wear a mask for any other flu, do we shut down the whole economy for any other flu?”

Listen to the interview below:

She added that she’s an ex-teacher and is upset by “what they’re doing to these children” by keeping them forever locked away at home.

White was then told about the warrant for her arrest, to which she responded by saying that if the cops wanted her, they’d have to come and get her.

“I’m going to be right here at this trailer park, so if they want to come and find me, I guess I’ll deal with that. Maybe they’ll beat me up again. I don’t know,” she said.

She was then asked whether she’d consider just wearing a mask going forward. She replied with a firm no.

I have been all over Texas. I’ve not wore a mask the entire time I’ve been in Texas. I walk in every grocery store. I walk in every place, and nobody says a thing to me. And I’m telling you, I would not change a thing. I’m not going to put a face diaper on because everyone is paranoid of something that is not real,” she said.

The reporter then asked, “Even after all this, you’re not gonna wear one?”

Sir, I am not gonna wear one,” she replied.
