Fact check this! New ‘blue check’ fact-checker gets dragged on Twitter for Biden kids in cages spin

On Monday, a Twitter account identifying itself as the “Trusted Report Team” popped up out of nowhere and began posting questionable fact-checks defending President Joe Biden’s policy decisions and ostensibly propping up left-wing talking points.

Purporting to be a team dedicated to “Fighting Misinformation, Anti Semitism and Hate Speech online,” the account began its efforts by fact-checking the claim that Biden has reopened “cages” in illegal alien detention facilities.

“Claim: Biden reopened ‘cages’ in migrant detention facilities. Fact Check by the Trusted Report Team: False. Biden has not reopened any ‘cages’ in migrant detention facilities. Any ‘cages’ are from the previous administration, and have been open for a very long time,” the fact-check reads.

Posted to blogspot.com, a blog-publishing service, the full fact-check doesn’t offer a shred of evidence to back its assertion.

Look:

The fact-check is also entirely semantical, in that it’s based on one’s definition of a cage versus any concrete facts.

The actual facts are that Biden has reopened detention facilities for illegal alien children that only two years earlier were accused by current Vice President Kamala Harris of committing “human rights abuses.”

Moreover, while these facilities may not contain any metal cages, they are nevertheless “caging” children in small trailers that one could argue are equivalent to cages.

Plus, when it comes to actual metal cages, the fact is that they originated with the administration of former President Barack Hussein Obama, not the administration of former President Donald Trump.

After posting the dubious fact-check about “cages,” the “Trusted Report Team” went on to fact-check virtually anything, no matter how factual, that the team disagreed with.

Below is one great example:

The ostensible fact-check above is 100 percent false. The Biden administration did not start “from scratch,” despite its claims otherwise, and this is coming from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ Dr. Anthony Fauci.

[W]e certainly are not starting from scratch because there is activity going on in the distribution. … [W]e’re coming in with fresh ideas, but also some ideas that were not bad ideas with the previous administration. You can’t say it was absolutely not usable at all. So we are continuing but you’re going to see a real ramping up of it,” he said in January.

Now, what’s particularly odd about the “Trusted Report Team” is that, besides posting false fact-checks, it boasts fewer than 200 followers, it doesn’t have its own website and it offers no information about who’s really behind the team.

Nevertheless, Twitter has already granted it a blue check mark.

Look at the backlash below:

While the “Trusted Report Team” has managed to establish itself as a trusted source — or at least according to Twitter’s odd standards — the team is sadly mistaken if it thinks the public is going to stand for the lies and propaganda it’s publishing.

As of Wednesday morning, every tweet by the account was ratioed, with people joining together to condemn and mock the team for its “jive” nonsense.
