The liberal media seems to prove that journalism may indeed be dead with the latest “breaking news” report about Democrat Joe Biden.

After four years of presenting leaked lies from unnamed sources as hit pieces on President Donald Trump, the mainstream media now seems to be shifting its tone in readiness for a journalistic vacation under a potential Biden administration. Hence, CBS Sunday Morning dropped a new kind of bombshell as the Bidens “exclusively” shared news about their pets.

Not only are Biden and his wife Jill planning to bring their two German shepherds to the White House, if the former vice president is actually certified as the winner of the 2020 race, but CBS Sunday Morning revealed that the couple “tell us, exclusively, that soon they’ll be joined by a cat.”

The sneak peek at the riveting news was shared in the tweet on Friday by the show’s host Jane Pauley, and set off a wave of mocking responses.

The Washington Post’s James Hohmann took the news as an opportunity to gush over Biden while taking a shot at Trump who did not have any pets during his first term at the White House.

“Huge news for ailurophiles: The Bidens reportedly plan to get a cat!” Hohmann, the paper’s national political correspondent, wrote in a tweet. “Trump busted so many norms. One is his refusal to have any White House pets. As far as I can tell, from some digging, Trump is the first U.S. president since Andrew Johnson to never have any pets.”

He added some more hard-hitting journalism by naming a few of the “distinguished line of White House cats” over the years, including Socks, the feline belonging to former President Bill Clinton and his family.

The amazingly-named Misty Malarky Ying Yang, who belonged to former President Jimmy Carter, set off some recommendations that the Biden cat should bear part of the same name, which has also been a popular catchphrase for the Democrat.

“Honestly one of the most underrated plot twists in American history is that Joe Biden’s cat wouldn’t be the first feline named Malarky in the White House,” Washington Post reporter Chelsea Janes wrote. Others also weighed in on names.

The Daily Beast was also all-in on the Biden pets, publishing an article Friday titled, “Joe Biden’s Dogs Have Told This Pet Psychic a Lot About Their Beloved Master, and His Future.” The piece was penned by the outlet’s senior editor and writer, Tim Teeman.

The level of fawning and wide-eyed wonder over pets potentially coming into the White House, while ignoring anything of substance on Biden and after years of trashing Trump, set the media up for a well-deserved backlash. Even as the four-legged headline-makers were getting attention, The Hill offered riveting news footage of Trump missing a “putt while golfing in Virginia on Friday.”

“The pettiness is so unbecoming. Unfolding @thehill. Thought they were better,” conservative radio host Annie Frey tweeted.

Meanwhile, the CBS exclusive on Biden’s pets continued to be torched by Twitter users.

“Are you kidding me? I know journalism is dead but this is beyond a joke,” Ned Ryan, a former presidential writer for George W. Bush and conservative activism expert, tweeted.

“Wonder why journalists have a reputation that rivals rotting cabbage? The idea that this is breaking news…,”  David Martosko, the U.S. political editor at DailyMail.com, wrote.
