Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused CNN’s Wolf Blitzer of being a clueless “apologist for the Republican position” when he asked why she has repeatedly rejected President Trump’s $1.8 trillion coronavirus relief bill, which would immediately get stimulus checks into the hands of millions of struggling Americans.
“I don’t know why you’re always an apologist — and many of your [CNN] colleagues are apologists — for the Republican position,” Pelosi scolded Blitzer. “With all due respect, and we’ve known each other a long time, you really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Pelosi’s shocking tirade at Blitzer and CNN suggests she’s having a terrible week as President Trump’s third Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, appears poised to sail through her Senate confirmation hearings.
Pelosi is also furious that she’s apparently being blamed by many for preventing Americans from getting stimulus checks.
Pelosi’s meltdown was triggered by Blitzer asking why she keeps rejecting President Trump’s relief package when her fellow Democrats — including Congressman Ro Khanna and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang — have urged her to accept the offer.
Blitzer said: “Many Americans are waiting in food lines for the first time in their lives. Can you look them in the eye and explain why you don’t want to accept the President’s latest stimulus offer? They really need the money right now…Even members of your own caucus want to accept this deal, $1.8 trillion.”
Blitzer pointed to comments from Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna and fellow Dem Andrew Yang, who said Democrats should accept Trump’s relief package offer because millions of struggling Americans need the stimulus checks right now.
Speaker Pelosi reacted by derisively dismissing both Ro Khanna and Andrew Yang, saying they don’t know what they’re talking about.
If Pelosi were a Republican, this is the part where the media would accuse her of “whitesplaining” and being a racist for condescendingly brushing off the suggestions of two minorities.
Pelosi said patronizingly: “Ro Khanna, that’s nice [that he said we should accept Trump’s offer]. But that isn’t what we’re going to do. Andrew Yang is lovely. Ro Khanna is lovely. They are not negotiating this situation. They have no idea of the particulars. They have no idea of what the language is here.”
Wolf Blitzer then asked: “What’s wrong with $1.8 trillion dollars?”
Pelosi then again accused Blitzer of being a Republican operative who’s “always an apologist” for the GOP.
Blitzer ignored her insult and retorted: “I’m asking you serious questions because so many people are in serious issue right now.”
Wolf asked when was the last time Pelosi spoke with President Trump and why she won’t speak to him directly to approve a stimulus package to help struggling Americans.
Pelosi angrily fired back: “What makes me amused, if it weren’t so sad, is how you all think that you know more about the suffering of the American people than those of us who are elected by them…With all due respect, you really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Nancy then continued to lecture Blitzer, saying: “Have some level of respect for the people who have worked on these issues.”
Blitzer replied: “Madam Speaker, I certainly respect you. But I also respect Ro Khanna. I respect Andrew Yang. They want a deal because so many people right now are suffering.”
Pelosi spat back: “You evidently do not respect the chairman of the committees who wrote these bills and I wish you would respect the knowledge that goes into meeting the needs of the American people.”
Nancy then accused Blitzer of “defending the Trump Administration all this time with no knowledge of the difference between our two bills.”
Blitzer replied: “It’s not about me. It’s about millions of people who can’t put food on the table, who can’t pay rent…I am sensitive to them, because I see them on the street begging for food, begging for money.”

Republicans have accused Pelosi of hijacking the negotiations to permanently expand welfare programs, expand abortion availability, and give taxpayer money to illegal aliens.
Democrats have demanded the following concessions — none of which have anything to do with providing coronavirus relief to Americans:
- Stimulus checks for illegal immigrants
- Mass prisoner release, including for violent criminals
- No-cash bail.
- Nationwide ballot harvesting
- Banning voter ID.
