After President Donald Trump called out Joe Biden during the debate over his son’s foreign business dealings, someone at CNN finally said out loud what many were thinking about Hunter Biden.

Trump confronted the Democratic presidential nominee about his son’s dealings with the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings and other entities during the contentious debate Tuesday. Though Biden claimed the allegations in the Senate Homeland Security and Finance committees report had all been “totally discredited,” Trump’s reference to the issue created a topic of discussion on CNN where anchor John King called Hunter Biden a “swamp creature.”

Biden had criticized the president during the debate for his administration’s economic policy toward China and Trump eventually targeted the younger Biden for leveraging his father’s position as then-vice president in the Obama administration to make a profit.

King noted how Biden’s son was a “weakness” for his campaign as he discussed the issue on Wednesday.

“Hunter Biden in many ways is a weakness for the former vice president because of his work, he was a, I’ll call it out, he’s a swamp creature, like many people, trading in his family name to make money around the world,” King said.

The Senate report released earlier this month noted that “officials within the Obama administration ignored the glaring warning signs when the vice president’s son joined the board of a company owned by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch.”

The report on the investigation of Hunter Biden’s dealings with Burisma also had noted that he had “received $3.5 million in a wire transfer” from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow.

Trump brought up the findings during the debate on Tuesday.

“China ate your lunch, Joe. And no wonder, your son goes in and he takes out billions of dollars, he takes out billions of dollars to manage,” Trump said. “He makes millions of dollars. And while we’re at it, why is it, just out of curiosity, the mayor of Moscow’s wife gave your son $3.5 million. What did he do to deserve it? What did he do with Burisma?”

“None of that is true,” Biden claimed in response.

While it seemed the subject of Hunter Biden was sort of off-limits in the first 2020 presidential debate, social media users found the reaction by CNN’s King highly interesting.

“John King says what Wallace wouldn’t even question,” conservative radio host Dana Loesch tweeted.
