The national spokesman for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden went on a tangent after he was asked whether the candidate uses a teleprompter before accusing Fox News host Bret Baier of using a talking point from President Donald Trump’s campaign.

In a Thursday interview, TJ Ducklo refused to say whether Biden has used a teleprompter during interviews with local media or during virtual question-and-answer sessions with supporters, choosing instead to attack the question, the network, and the Trump campaign in a near-hysterical manner

“Bret, we are not gonna engage…this is straight from the Trump campaign talking points,” Ducklo responded.

“Well, yeah, they’re using it,” Baier interjected, as the two talked over each other.

“And what it does, Bret, is it’s trying to distract the American people,” the Biden spokesman alleged.

“They’re using it,” Baier interrupted, referring to the president’s campaign. “They talk about it every day. Can you say yes or no?”

“They talk about it every day, Bret, because they don’t have a coherent strategy,” Ducklo insisted, his voice rising. “They talk about it every day because they don’t have a coherent argument for why Donald Trump deserves reelection, deserves four more years.

“We know that he lied to the American people. We know that he has not shown leadership during this crisis and they are desperate to throw anything they can against the wall to try to distract from that fact,” Ducklo continued, avoiding a direct answer to the teleprompter question as he did others through much of the interview.

Baier’s question — and the Trump campaign’s mention of a teleprompter — stems from incidents where Biden appears to struggle with answers during recent virtual campaign events.

Last week, for instance, Biden stammered for moments during an AFL-CIO virtual town hall in Harrisburg, Pa., on Labor Day in which he appeared to be trying to read an answer to a question.

“The Biden ‘campaign’ is a farce. If there was one decent journalist left they would be calling this nonsense out daily but unfortunately there aren’t,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote in response to the incident.

At one point, Biden is breathing heavily and instructs his staff to “move it up here,” an apparent reference to a teleprompter.

“This guy is given the answer to questions, which he reads from his teleprompter. Is Donna involved in this scam? Could you imagine if I got caught doing this. The media will never report this scam (FAKE) candidate. Sad!” President Trump responded, a reference to former DNC chair and CNN contributor Donna Brazile, who was let go from the network after giving the Hillary Clinton campaign debate questions in 2016.

There have been additional instances where Biden appears to be reading from a teleprompter, including a Q&A answer about President Trump’s policies towards Venezuela earlier this month.

Also, Biden struggled with an answer during a virtual Q&A in March as well, when it once more looked as though he was having teleprompter issues.

Nevertheless, Ducklo refused to directly answer Baier’s question on the issue.

After Baier pressed again, the Biden campaign spokesman declared: “Bret, I am not gonna let the Trump campaign funnel questions through Fox News.”
