A video that appeared online this week shows a California woman being booted from a Trader Joe’s in Palos Verdes for refusing to don a face mask.
After exiting the store, the unnamed woman then expressed her frustration about how the face mask mandates being adopted by a growing number of private businesses, including grocery stores, represent yet another erosion of the American people’s rights.

As seen in the video above, everybody else at the Trader Joe’s, including managers and customers, had a mask covering their mouth and nose.
Because of the woman’s refusal to don a mask herself, the store manager allegedly called the cops on her, though their arrival was not seen in the video.
“Listen, let’s get rational about this. We’re in the United States. We’re in America. It’s supposed to be the land of the free,” she complained in one part of the video.
She further claimed she didn’t want to wear a mask because research shows that it’s unhealthy for one to breathe in his or her own carbon dioxide.
She was partially right. While prolonged use of tight-fitting respirators can be problematic for those with preexisting respiratory illnesses, according to a left-leaning “factchecker” and many scientists, the prolonged wearing of standard cloth or surgical masks poses no problems.
The woman also lectured other shoppers about being “sheep.”
“This is insane. Look at all of these sheep that are here, all wearing this mask. It’s actually dangerous for them, and it’s doing nothing for them,” she said.
“[T]he messaging about mask usage remains muddled. That’s true for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which updated its public recommendations to include wearing masks whenever you go out in public on the same day President Trump announced he would not be wearing one,” Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight notes.
“It’s also true in the scientific community, where dueling experts both urge widespread public face mask usage and dismiss face masks as useless and potentially dangerous.”

This is why the CDC has only recommended mask usage, though some local governments and private businesses have chosen to mandate it.
“Quit being sheep!” the woman in the video adds. “Shame on all of you! It’s a 99 percent success rate, a 99 percent recovery rate, yet you’re all wearing this.”
According to Worldometers, the global recovery rate among closed cases is 84 percent, and the global “mild” conditions rate among active cases is 98 percent. And so yes, the chance of someone contracting the virus and suffering deadly conditions is low.
“I’m frustrated. The point is that it’s one more thing, and then it’s one more thing, it’s one more thing, and pretty soon they’ve taken all of our rights away, and I’m tired of it,” she explained.
It’s reached the point where mothers and fathers have been arrested just for trying to play with their children outside. And so the question becomes, where does it end?
