Fox News host Tucker Carlson called out the liberal media focusing on “palace intrigue” and politicians claiming to have a “monopoly” on the best course of action in combating the coronavirus.

Carlson slammed the “self-righteous” grandstanding by various political leaders all peddling their own version of the steps to success for dealing with the pandemic and predicted that life in America after the outbreak will definitely be different.

“They can’t all be right,” the Fox News host said in a monologue on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday, pointing to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as an example, saying he has often been credible but was recently pushing his my-way-or-the-highway plan to combat the virus.

At a press briefing, the Democrat leader told reporters that “we are not going to accept the premise that human life is disposable,” after declaring the lives of his mother and others’ loved ones are not “expendable.”

“Human life is not disposable, lectures the man who just signed a law legalizing abortion until birth,” Carlson said. “In a moment like this, talk like that – overstatement, hyperbole – is not helpful. The last thing we need is another dose of moral blackmail.”

Carlson went on to contend that the liberal media complies by not delivering honesty and fails to confront the real questions that matter in the face of the global pandemic. He called out leaders who clamor to push the one policy or cure that will be the answer while not admitting that there are many unknowns in the fight against the disease, including its effects on infected persons, its spread across the nation, and the death rate.

“One thing we do know is that America will not be the same after this is over. Some of the changes will be positive and hopefully lasting,” he said.

“But there will also be problems to fix, a lot of problems,” Carlson added, going on to highlight the “biggest threats America is likely to face once this is over.”

He warned that the fallout from the virus could “wipe out the middle class,” and that protecting this segment of society should be a priority in a coming “global depression.”

“The finance moguls will be fine no matter what happens to the economy. Not much will likely change for poor people, either, they will remain poor. But the middle class? The middle class could be wiped out by what we are watching right now,” he said.

“The service industry, middle management, small business, the independent contractors, people like those make this country work, and more importantly, they keep it stable. They are the ones in deepest peril tonight,” he added, warning of an “impoverished country with a thin layer of rich people at the top.”

Carlson then pointed to the potential for China to come out stronger following the virus outbreak which originated in the city of Wuhan.

“China ultimately is responsible for this virus…The threat extends far beyond the current pandemic. It’s entirely possible, sadly, that the Chinese coronavirus makes China stronger in the end, even as it weakens us in America,” Carlson said. “China already has a deeper manufacturing base than we do and has a far larger population. Soon it will have the biggest economy on earth.”

“It’s entirely possible that we could wake up a few years from now and find China in charge,” he added. “Now, we’ve been headed to this place for a while. The crisis that we’re currently going through could be enough to push us.”

To prevent an end to American economic dominance, Carlson argued that there should be a plan in place to prevent China “from taking advantage of the chaos they that have unleashed and we are suffering through.”

Finally, the Fox News host warned that the U.S. must be careful that “we don’t lose the most important part of our birthright as Americans,” pointing to the freedom to think and say what we believe.

“Freedom of conscience may be undervalued right now, but it underpins everything we have. It is the foundation of a free and decent society,” Carlson said, noting the attack to free speech by tech monopolies.

“It’s not a small thing. It’s a trend, collusion between big multinationals and authoritarian governments to make you obey,” he concluded. “It’s not paranoid to talk. It’s real. And you should worry about it.”
