President Trump welcomed former Democratic Congressman Jeff Van Drew to the Republican Party during a raucous rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Trump commended the new Republican for having the integrity to vote against the sham impeachment last month in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.
“He stood up to the House Democrats and the outrageous abuse of power you see going on right now,” Trump told the fired-up crowd at the jam-packed rally. “The American people are disgusted by the Washington Democrat, and you see it. Which is worse? The impeachment hoax or the witch hunts about Russia?”
Van Drew made headlines after defecting from the Democratic Party to become a Republican in early-January. Trump said he’s confident that many more disgruntled Democrats and Independent voters will join the MAGA movement.
“We are going to be signing up millions and millions of registered Independents and Democrat voters,” the president pledged.
Congressman Van Drew appeared on stage with President Trump and said: “It’s an honor to be with you.”
Van Drew said he was thrilled to join the legion of Trump supporters around the country and praised the President as “a man who kept his word to ensure that the eyes of the world are on South Jersey and all of us.”
As usual, President Trump’s rally at the Wildwood Convention Center drew a capacity crowd, who lined up around the block more than 24 hours before he was scheduled to speak.
New Jersey is a Democratic stronghold that Hillary Clinton won in 2016 by 14 points. Yet there were more than 100,000 ticket requests for Trump’s rally, even though the venue holds less than 20,000 people.
One mom tweeted a video of the enormous crowd while clapping back at the bigoted CNN panel that mocked all Trump supporters as dumb, illiterate hicks.
The lady tweeted: “This YUGE crowd of Patriots at the Trump rally in Wildwood have a message 4 DUMB Don Lemon, Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali, who mocked them as the “ignorant & illiterate, credulous, boomer rubes: ?4 MORE YEARS?”

President Trump’s team says the enthusiastic turnout for Trump’s first rally in New Jersey should terrify Democrats.
“If I were a Democrat, I would look at the enthusiasm and crowd here and think what the hell is going on here?” Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told ABC News.
President Trump contrasted what he has accomplished with the nonstop obstructionism of the “Do-Nothing Democrats.”
“While we are creating jobs and killing terrorists, the Congressional Democrats are obsessed with demented hoaxes, crazy witch hunts, and deranged partisan crusades,” Trump said. “That’s all they know how to do, the Do-Nothing Democrats.”
The president added: “They have spent the last three years…trying to overthrow the last election. We will make sure that they face another crushing defeat in the next election. We are going to have a victory that’s even greater than 2016!”
