Teen allegedly stages pregnant sister’s disappearance, kills her because she was a family ‘embarrassment’

A demented Texas man is believed to have murdered his 23-year-old sister, dumped her body in a nearby field and then tried unsuccessfully to stage the murder as a suicide.

Why? Because she recently became pregnant by her boyfriend, and according to alledged killer Eduardo Arevalo, 19, that was unacceptable.

“The only reason he gave for killing her was that she was an embarrassment to their family, and he stated it would be better off that she wasn’t here,” police Sgt. Aaron Woodard from The Colony, Texas, said at a presser held after the case was broken over the weekend and Eduardo finally confessed.

The case first emerged last Tuesday when family members of Viridiana Arevalo, 23, reported her missing and expressed fears that she might hurt herself.

“The Colony Police Department was contacted about a possible missing adult female from an address in the 5200 block of Runyon Drive. During the investigation, it was discovered that Viridiana Arevalo, had been missing since Monday, December 16, 2019 at approximately 8:00am,” local police announced in a Facebook post last Wednesday.

“It was reported that the missing person had last been seen by a family member at their residence at 5224 Runyon Drive in The Colony. At that time, the missing person had made some statements about harming herself because of some personal issues.”

Those “statements” were expressed via an apparent suicide note that she left. Given Arevalo’s reported depression, police assumed the worst.

Then four days later on Sunday, the body of a then-unidentified deceased woman mysteriously appeared out of nowhere in an alley only a mile from Arevalo’s home.

Once detectives identified the body as that of Arevalo and reviewed surveillance cameras from the area, it took them less than 24 hours to prod Eduardo into finally confessing and revealing what really happened.

“I murdered her, I murdered her,” he reportedly confessed, adding that he did so on Dec. 16 by strangling her to death as she sat on a couch.

He also admitted to being responsible for the suicide note and the body’s sudden appearance.

“As the week went on, Eduardo stated that he wanted his family to know where Viri was at, so he went and picked up her body and brought her back Sunday morning in the early morning hours and dumped her body in the alleyway,” Woodard explained.

As of Tuesday morning, Eduardo was being held without bond on a charge of capital murder and reportedly facing possible additional charges as well.

What’s known about Arevalo is that she’d been into religion and drawing comics and had been eight months pregnant with a baby girl whom she’d been excited to bring into this world.

“She was super excited. She always wanted a sister. She was the only sister in the family. She always wanted a little sister, but it never happened,” Diego Arevalo, the oldest of her five siblings (including Eduardo), said to local media reporters.

In a stunning statement, he added that he believes Eduardo is innocent …

“I know my brother, he wouldn’t do something like this. He’s very kind, very positive kind of guy, very motivated. He helped my family out, he helped my brothers, he even helped my sister out,” he said.

Listen:

“It takes a piece of me that I can’t get back, from my sister, my little brother as well. To see him like this, I would never imagine him being in a mugshot, in jail,” he reportedly added.

While it may be difficult to believe, the crime of a sibling killing another sibling isn’t as rare as it should be. In fact, only a day after Arevalo’s murder in The Colony, which is a suburb of Dallas, an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death by his older sister only about 30 miles away in Grand Prairie.

“Around 9 p.m. Dec. 17, police responded to a report of a dead person at the City Hospital Emergency Care Center in the 900 block of W. Jefferson Street,” local station KTVT reported. “When officers arrived, medical staff said Natanael Contreras, 18, had been brought to the emergency room suffering from a stab wound.”

“Detectives then identified and interviewed the teen’s sister — identified as Abigail Contreras — and determined that the siblings were traveling in a vehicle when a physical fight broke out between the two.”

And the next thing they knew, Nathaniel was dead …

Here’s some words of advice to all the brothers and sisters out there this Christmas holiday: You’re supposed to LOVE ONE ANOTHER, not kill each other!!!!!
