Gohmert plucks out the ‘silver lining’ in Dem’s ‘insane’ and ‘outrageous’ impeachment crusade

Rep. Louie Gohmert slammed Democrats and the “Animal Farm” that has been the impeachment hearings they have been conducting against President Donald Trump.

The House Judiciary Committee member spoke with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade Thursday before the panel ended the night with Chairman Jerry Nadler declaring the impeachment vote would be postponed until Friday.

“So, they’ve settled on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and we’ll see if we get a vote in Committee tonight,” Kilmeade, who was sitting in on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” said as he asked the Texas Republican to weigh in on “what’s been going on for the last two days.”

“It’s an animal farm, it’s insane, it’s just so outrageous. I’ve sat through some really bad trials, as a judge, but this exceeds anything I’ve ever had to sit through. It is such an outrage,” Gohmert responded.

“It’s so ironic, too, they don’t have a crime, they’ve had to drop every single crime that they’ve alleged,” he added, condemning Democrats for accusing Trump of abusing power and obstruction when they are themselves guilty of doing just that.

“How ironic that today that Joe Biden would say if he were subpoenaed to the Congress or the Senate, he would defy it, he wouldn’t do it,” he said, referring to the former vice president saying he would not comply with any Senate Judiciary Committee subpoena to appear in a potential impeachment trial to testify about his son’s business dealings in Ukraine.

“No, I’m not going to let you take the eye off the ball here,” the 2020 Democratic candidate said, according to Delaware Online. “Everybody knows what this is about.”

“That is what this mob is trying to kick out Trump from the White House [for],” Gohmert argued Thursday.

But he told Kilmeade there was actually a “silver lining” in all that the sham impeachment process has uncovered.

“I try to find some silver lining, no matter how bad it’s been,” he said.

“We’ve known this was a swamp, we’ve known there were swamp creatures. One of the biggest problems here in Washington is figuring out who is part of the deep state, who are the swamp creatures,” he said, citing “Trump Derangement Syndrome” among the left.

“These guys have been raising their head so we could see who needs to be fired, who needs to be out of the swamp and we found them,” he said.

Following Friday morning’s party-line vote by the Judiciary Committee to approve two articles of impeachment against the president, Gohmert slammed the “kangaroo court” and the “outrageous” process by Democrats which he warned would set a precedent for future presidents.

“This is really a sad day. Big show. Everybody got dressed up, really no place to go,” he said, remarking on the vote of abuse of power which he said existed at the Justice Department, the FBI, the FISA court and even the Department of Defense “was paying money to help set up the president.”

“So there were all kinds of abuses of power. Perhaps none more so than in the House of Representatives by the majority,” Gohmert told reporters in a blistering statement. “This is an outrage. It sets the bar for any president of any party for the future to go through three years of hell like this president had. It’s really unfortunate. This is a sad day for the country.”
