The Left’s anti-police rhetoric has escalated so much that New York City police officers are being assaulted in broad daylight for doing their jobs — which is to protect the public.

Yesterday, a video of several NYPD officers getting doused with water and pelted with buckets to their heads went viral, fueling outrage among law-abiding Americans around the nation. NYPD Chief Terence Monahan called the attacks “reprehensible.”

Monahan tweeted: “The videos of cops being doused with water and having objects hurled at them as they made an arrest in Harlem is reprehensible. EVERY New Yorker MUST show respect for our cops. They deserve nothing less.”

In one shocking video, a thug throws a bucket at the head of a police officer while he’s making an arrest in Harlem, New York as a mob of bystanders mock him.

In another disturbing video, two police officers get doused with water while showing remarkable restraint against youths who pour buckets over their heads as they walk away.

An NYPD source says police officers are furious over the escalating disrespect and assaults on cops. “Everybody’s outraged,” an NYPD source told the New York Post. “It’s disgusting, embarrassing. There’s lawlessness around here now.”

New York City police officers kept the public safe during last week’s power outage, when criminals could have gone ham by attacking random people and looting stores. But they didn’t because of the presence of the NYPD on the streets.

In a statement, the Police Benevolent Association of New York (PBA) condemned the water attacks, and blamed lawmakers who foment violence against cops by repeatedly demonizing and trashing law enforcement.

PBA president Patrick Lynch said, “Our anti-cop lawmakers have gotten their wish: the NYPD is now frozen…[The water attacks are] the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric. We are approaching the point of no return.”

Lynch added that “disorder controls the streets” and “elected leaders refuse to allow us to take them back. The politicians may not care about the dangerous levels of chaos in our neighborhoods, but police officers and decent New Yorkers should not be forced to suffer.”

While leftists think it’s okay to throw water at police officers, keep in mind that in cities like London, the buckets could easily have been filled with acid instead of water. This is the dangerous slippery slope the lawless left is taking us down.

It’s not just local police officers who are now being attacked in broad daylight. As BizPac Review reported, Border Patrol officers in Texas were punched and kicked over the weekend by illegal aliens who rushed the US-Mexico border.

A CBP official said border patrol agents had to use tear gas and pepper spray to curb the mob rampage when gangs of illegals rushed the Rio Grande bridge in three separate waves.

“Ignoring commands to stop, the group suddenly rushed the temporary barricades, bent metal poles and disabled the concertina wire affixed to the barrier,” a CBP official said.

The Border Patrol official added: “Several males in the group disregarded commands to stop and physically pushed through the barriers. When confronted by CBP officers, the combative individuals began assaulting the officers by punching, kicking, and attempting to grab the officers’ protective devices.”
