Police and Antifa members clash multiple times at Demand Free Speech D.C. rally

Antifa members hit the streets of Washington D.C. on Saturday in an attempt to disrupt the Demand Free Speech rally.

Featuring guests like Laura Loomer, Jack Posobiec and Milo Yiannopoulos, the Demand Free Speech rally was meant to protest bias against right-leaning thinkers on social media platforms.

Marching in Freedom Plaza, rally attendees were greeted by Antifa members looking to be their usual disruptive selves. Fortunately, D.C. police were not as laid back as Portland police clearly were recently in the case of Andy Ngo.

One video going viral out of the Demand Free Speech rally shows Antifa members carrying flags and wearing masks and helmets as they attempt to move past a barrier made by police. Police officers respond by pushing the Antifa members away. One even nearly topples completely to the ground.

Check out the video below:

“Antifa protesters tried to break through the police cordon at 12th Street with Pennsylvania Ave. Quick response by @DCPoliceDept,” journalist Benjamin Alvarez, who posted the video, wrote about the incident.

Another video going viral out of the rally is a second scuffle between Antifa members and police. Antifa members can be seen destroying a newspaper stand and then a group of police officers quickly intervenes and pushes the crowd back.

The Antifa “men” predictably put up little fight. When police get done shoving the protestors back, the Antifa members begin complaining.

“You attacked me, buddy!” one member says to a police officer. He then begins cursing out the police officers telling him to get back.

“Scuffle between police and protesters dressed in black, some of who identified with antifa, outside @DemndFreeSpeech rally at about 12:40pm on corner of 14th St and Pennsylvania Ave. in D.C.” reporter Nicholas Bogal-Burroughs wrote on Twitter with the video.

Another video posted by Bogal-Burroughs showed Antifa members trying to grab a Make America Great Again hat off of a black man.

“Shortly before this, some black-clad protesters had tried to grab MAGA hat of @BBergquam, who was approaching protesters while livestreaming and asking to speak. Mr. Bergquam, 36, was escorted away from protesters by police and then left area voluntarily,” Bolan-Burroughs reported.

Some conservatives have been celebrating various videos out of the Demand Free Speech rally as they are showing that police are acting more assertively than they did recently in Portland, Oregon.

“What happens when ANTIFA snowflake, chump, coward, losers run into real men,” conservative commentator Dan Bongino wrote when sharing a video of a run-in between D.C. police and Antifa members.

Others believe D.C. police should be doing more to keep control over Antifa protesters.

“DC police are failing hard. Letting domestic terrorist march with masks is 100% unacceptable,” “Dilbert” creator and “Win Bigly” author Scott Adams tweeted. Adams was sharing a video originally posted by Jack Posobiec which showed one of the previously mentioned scuffles between police and Antifa, but shot from a different angle.

Adams may be on to something there. Everyone has the right to demonstrate, but doing so while masked means you can only be up to no good. These Antifa members feel even more entitled to act out because they are allowed to anonymously walk the streets while openly attaching themselves to an organization that has a very violent history.
