During that day’s edition of “The Beat with Ari Melber,” a collage of several Democrat presidential candidates appeared on the screen above the words “welcome to Miami.” Included in the collage were Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Kamala Harris and Hollywood actor and rapper Will Smith.
Say what … !?
Here’s a snapshot:

Here’s the actual clip:
Warren and Harris are both slated to travel to Miami next week for the first Democrat presidential debates. Smith, on the other hand … well, it’s unclear what he plans for next week.
Two theories have emerged regarding the odd graphic mashup above.
The first theory posits that Melber’s staff mistook Smith for Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker. He too is slated to participate in the debates next week. And just like Smith, he’s black ya’ll, he’s black ya’ll, he’s blackety black and he’s black ya’ll.

I wondered if a staffer confused Will Smith for Cory Booker … ??? Clearly an error.

The second theory is that Melber’s team purposefully designed the collage that way to jokingly reference Smith’s 1998 hit song, “Miami,” whose hook contains the words “welcome to Miami.”
Listen to the song below:
The second theory seems to be the most plausible:
It’s a “funny joke” – another of Ari’s song lyric references. The thing on the chyron “welcome to Miami” is the repeated refrain from Will Smith’s song Miami, where the debates are being held https://t.co/7mmwFJ1UuY

Hah hah …?
Melber has a self-admitted history of telling bad jokes:
I’m not sure why I tell bad jokes. I.. just… do. @nancygilesnyc

In fact, he even made a joke out of the confusion his collage had inspired:

This sense of humor has, it would appear, earned him some bonafides among the far-left.
“Ain’t no secret, I’ve always liked Ari Melber,” a commentator for the radical left-wing site Daily Kos opined two years ago. “He’s good at it, he’s personable, flashes an occasional sardonic sense of humor, and while a trained lawyer, he appears on many of MSNBC’s shows simply because he has a natural talent for taking legal issues and breaking them down without making the viewer feel like a moron.”
Besides being a wannabe funnyman, Melber is also a talented apologist and excuse maker.
When the debunked, fraudulent Steele dossier came to the public’s attention in late 2017, Melber was quick to downplay the fact that it had been funded by failed 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee.
“Here’s the bottom line, we always knew who paid for this portrait. The only question critical to the Russia probe is whether the portrait is authentic or a forgery. And this isn’t art,” he said snidely, implying that the fact that Clinton had paid for the dossier was irrelevant.
Attorney General Bill Barr would likely disagree with that assessment …
Now flashback to 2015, when Melber was forced to issue a humiliating apology after a contributor on a show he was guest-hosting smeared all country music listeners.
“Nothing says ‘let’s go kill some Muslims’ like country music, fresh from Lynchburg, Virginia,” radically far-left activist Jamilah Lemieux had said in response to reports that then-GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz enjoyed listening to country music.
“Someone who obviously does not want to be a polarizing candidate, he wants to bring people together, I mean — really? That’s absurd.”
Watch the full segment below:
Shortly after the segment ended, Melber returned to say, “A few minutes ago on this show, a guest made a comment about country music. That comment was not appropriate, and we want to be clear this network does not condone it.”
So to recap, to work at MSNBC you must be good at telling lame jokes, making excuses for corrupt politicians and apologizing for the deplorable behavior of left-wing activists.
