For one brief moment in time on Friday, the entire country — from the elitist liberal Democrats along the coasts to the tough-like-a-brillo conservative Republicans in Middle America — united in joint denunciation of one especially annoyingly over-self-confident man: The one and only Geraldo Rivera.
The bipartisan condemnation and denunciation of the Fox News contributor was spurred by his decision to propose that Democrats and Republicans stop targeting each other with investigations.
Look:
Here’s an idea for a compromise.
1-The Dems agree to drop all #RussiaGate related investigations.
IF they do,
2-#AGBarr agrees to stop his probe of the counterintelligence operation that targeted @realDonaldTrump
Then we all go forward together, and let the best man/woman win— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) May 31, 2019
From the looks of it, everybody hated his idea.
Republicans opposed it because they know that no compromise is needed since the Democrats already lost. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian collusion and obstruction of justice has concluded, and the president was never indicted. Case closed.
It’s true congressional Democrats might pursue impeachment, but so what? Without the support of the Senate — which is currently controlled by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, aka “Cocaine Mitch” — the left’s dreams of impeachment will never be fulfilled.
And then there’s the fact that a majority of Americans oppose impeachment, meaning that pursuing impeachment could irrevocably harm Democrats going into the 2020 election.
According to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, which was conducted after Mueller’s press conference last Thursday, only a 37 percent minority of voters support impeachment.
But the key reason Republicans responded so negatively to the FNC host’s proposal was that they want justice for the president, a man whom they fervently believe was targeted by the administration of former President Barack Hussein Obama for certain political doom.
Check out the Republican response below:
Nah. Too late for that and obviously this thing goes pretty high. There’s a lot of people running scared. Afraid cats out of the bag. Better to keep the peace then have everyone know the truth right? You know something @GeraldoRivera ???
— BJL (@bj_libb) June 2, 2019
NO F’ING WAY! The truth must be revealed! If half the obama admin is put in prison then that will be the best deterrent for anyone in the future to never do this ? again!
— Trump2020? (@Trumpsu83570654) June 2, 2019
You’re kidding, right? These coup attempters MUST be brought to JUSTICE!!!! Or it WILL keep happening! Besides, this goes WAY beyond Trump! Obama was spying on everyone, including media and Supreme Court Justices! Have you not heard of “The Hammer”?
— #MelMiller777 (@melmiller777) June 2, 2019
Bad idea. Let the Dems dig their own graves. Meanwhile let’s investigate the investigators. The corruption goes all the way to the top of the Obama admin, and they don’t get a pass!
— Roger Waters (@RogerWa57077993) June 2, 2019
No wayThis is one of the most Dangerous Group of Traitors ever and let them get away scot free would be an invitation that there is no consequence for treason against an elected President. Also what the hell are Obama holdovers doing conspiring with Iran.Arrest them [Kerry etc]
— Sharyn Pearson (@ShazPearson) June 2, 2019
Are you nuts? Forgive a coup attempt to stop an unethical impeachment try by the DemonRats? NO!
— Radodad (@dadrado) June 2, 2019
That is a terrible idea! It rewards illegal behavior and an attempted coup! Not to mention the total disrespect of the office of the President. The right has a history of giving in to the left as it is. Now is the time to say we are not going to take it anymore.

Here’s a better compromise
1. Coup members plead guilty and apologize to America.
2. Plead for 20 years instead of what they deserve pic.twitter.com/KPosPkmhnc

Ouch @ the latter tweet!
Democrats opposed it because they still think #RussiaGate is a thing. It’s not. Mueller’s concluded investigation into alleged Russian collusion found that President Donald Trump did not collude with Russian operatives to affect the 2016 election. Mueller’s investigation also found a lack of evidence to charge/convict the president with obstruction of justice.
Despite Mueller’s conclusions, liberal Democrats refuse to give up because #OrangeManBad.
Observe the Democrat response to Rivera’s tweet below:
Here’s an idea for compromise. Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Gym Jordan, Steve King, Devin Nunes, Matt Gaetz, & Kevin McCarthy resign in disgrace never to return to public office.
Then we can get our checks/balances & rule of law back.

How about dirty Republicans stop trying to get Democrats to look elsewhere. What are they hiding?
— Steve Berthiaume (@steve_sbert66) June 2, 2019
here’s an idea..
1 He colluded and obstructed.
2 Dems begin impeachment proceedings leading to trump’s conviction
3 AGBarr resigns— SuperPatriot (@SuperPatriotMax) June 2, 2019
You are ridiculous- did you Read the Mueller report? You want a criminal in the WH that colluded with the RU’s. Never told the FBI or American people he was in contact for trump Moscow tower or that don jr met with RU? That’s a okay with you ?
— Zoe Hess (@ZoeHess13) June 1, 2019
I have a counter proposal.
The president, vice president and ag resign. We indict trump on 10 charges of obstruction of justice.
when we do,
You go off an finish your search for Al Capone’s vault.
— Imparmente (@gregoddmind) June 2, 2019
If you haven’t actually READ the Mueller, you should! All the CRIMES and obstruction by the #illegitimatePOtuS have been clearly outlined by #mueller and his team! No one, but Putin, was spying on trump, his #usefulidiot! Trump is giving Putin the USA and people refuse to see!
— Keisha Marie (@0862KeishaMarie) June 2, 2019
Remember, #OrangeManBad.
Another point to consider is that at least liberal Democrats got their questions answered. They don’t like the answers, but they got them nevertheless because Mueller’s investigation was allowed to continue for roughly two full years.
Attorney General Bill Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Russia probe just started, on the other hand, and a myriad of questions remain unanswered.
When did the Russian collusion narrative form? What role did the Steele dossier play? Why was the dossier allowed to be use at all given what was known about it? Etc.
Overall, Republicans have a lot more to lose from a compromise than Democrats, though Democrats of course see things quite differently.
But as accurately noted by Rivera in one final tweet Friday evening, they may one day come to regret their exceeding arrogance:;
Ok I get that the left doesn’t want peace. Then fasten your seatbelts. Mark my words-Before this is over many of your heroes will be profoundly diminished. https://t.co/4TiLspjzw4
— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) June 1, 2019
And by heroes he probably meant the likes of Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and even former President Barack Hussein Obama.
