Trey Gowdy ripped Democratic presidential candidate Eric Swalwell for his comments about being “another white guy” and for “pandering” to voters.
The former Republican congressman from South Carolina mocked Swalwell and commented on the “sad reflection on our politics” during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Story” with Martha MacCallum.

“Well, Eric’s clearly riding a wave. I think he’s all the way up to zero in the polling,” Gowdy said, referring to a Morning Consult poll, collected from May 13 to May 19, 2019, which indicated the California Democrat is supported by less than one percent of the voters surveyed.
“I noticed throughout his political history he ran against two women that I know of, so if he is concerned there aren’t enough voices in Congress or in the city council he was on, he didn’t have any qualms about running against two qualified women back then,” Gowdy told MacCallum. “This is what I know and, luckily, what most of our fellow citizens know.”
Swalwell responded to a question in a Vice News interview about why “another white guy” should be president.
“A white guy who doesn’t see other identities or understand other experiences should not be president,” he replied. “I do. And where there would be gaps in my knowledge or my experience, I will pass the mic to people who do have that experience.”

Gowdy called out Swalwell’s apology over something he has “absolutely no control” over as an attempt “to climb all the way up to one percent in the polling.”
“Logic, objective truth, passion, empathy, no racial or gender strictures. If you are a good person, I want you governing me regardless of any other immutable characteristic,” Gowdy said.
“I think it is a sad reflection on our politics if people are actually apologizing for things over which they have absolutely no control at all and I think most of my fellow citizens reject that and see this as just Eric pandering, trying to climb all the way up to one percent in the polling,” he added.
Gowdy had previously remarked that the thought of Swalwell becoming president should “scare the ever-living hell out of you.”
Many mocked Swalwell’s latest comments, including Donald Trump Jr., who retweeted Swalwell’s message and added, “Hard to believe that this isn’t a parody account.”

The 2020 contender, who announced his candidacy for president last month and has made stricter gun control a central theme of his campaign, recently begged for $5 donations so he could beat Trump in a “5 to remove 45” pitch.

In an interview with MSNBC last month, the Democrat confessed he is a white man while also pledging that he would nominate a woman to be his vice president.
SPOILER ALERT: I’m a white man.
I know where I can’t speak to someone else’s experience and I pledge to:

Swalwell’s latest comments provided Twitter users with even more fodder for mockery.
in this day and age, swalwell can claim any race, ethnicity or sexual orientation if he doesn’t like what he is…he can just pretend he’s american indian or chinese or middle eastern or non-binary…it works for the gender confused, why not the racially and ethnically confused?

Swalwell should apologize for being Swalwell.

If you have to apologize for things like let’s say “Your race”? Maybe you should re think your life. Swalwell is an idiot.

“Eric (Swalwell) is clearly riding a wave, and he’s all the way up to zero.” No one can say it like Trey Gowdy.
