A Muslim soldier in the U.S. Army plans to file a civil rights lawsuit after her female commanding officer asked her to remove her hijab for an inspection.
Sergeant Cesilia Valdovinos — who converted to Islam in 2016 — claims she was discriminated against when the commanding officer at her Colorado battalion ordered her to remove her hijab to verify if she was wearing her hair in a bun.
Army regulations require Muslim women to wear their hair in a bun under the hijab, according to the Army Times.
Valdovinos Is Mad After Demotion for Unrelated Violation
Valdovinos — who was recently demoted on an unregulated Article 15 rules violation — claims Command Sergeant Major Kerstin Montoya violated her civil rights by asking her to remove her hijab so she can conduct an inspection.
Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, claims this is “a pattern and practice of anti-Muslim bigotry, prejudice and harassment.”
Army Investigation Found No Discrimination
In March 2019, Cesilia Valdovinos filed a complaint over the incident.
However, the presiding brigade commander (Colonel David Zinn) reviewed her complaint and concluded there was no violation of Army rules. Zinn said in a statement:
“A commander’s inquiry found allegations against a senior non-commissioned officer were unsubstantiated regarding discriminating against Sgt. Cesilia Valdovinos.
The inquiry concluded that the senior non-commissioned officer acted appropriately by enforcing the proper wear of the hijab, in compliance with Army regulations.”

Valdovinos refuses to accept the findings of the internal Army inquiry, and now wants to cash in by filing a federal lawsuit.
NYC Forced To Pay $180,000 to Muslims Over Hijab Lawsuit
Because of the mushrooming Muslim population in the United States (and around the world), there has been a massive spike in lawsuits over the hijab and other Muslim practices.
As BizPac Review reported in 2018, the city of New York was forced to pay $180,000 to three Muslim women who sued after they were asked to remove their hijabs for mugshot photos.

In 2015, the New York City Police Department modified their mugshot policies specifically to accommodate Muslims.
The order says officers who arrest a woman that refuses to remove her headscarf must offer her the choice of a private photo session without the hijab in the presence of a female officer.
This is the latest in a disturbing trend of hefty lawsuit settlements being paid out by police departments around the United States. The “Hijab Card” is also being played across Europe, where Muslim populations are skyrocketing in England, France, Sweden, the Netherlands and elsewhere.
Former Muslim: Hijab Is a Symbol of Rape
While liberals are cheerfully celebrating the hijab, they blithely ignore why Muslim women wear them in the first place: It’s so they don’t get raped. Basically, fundamental Islam teaches that women encourage rape if they walk around with their hair visible.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim turned outspoken critic of Islam, has slammed the hijab as a symbol of the oppression and abuse of women in Muslim countries, where women are routinely beaten and raped by their husbands, can be stoned for getting raped, and married off as 6-year-old girls.
“The hijab as a symbol justifies the rape of women who refuse to wear it,” she tweeted.

The Muslim community responded by making death threats against Hirsi Ali. She now cannot go anywhere in public without full-time security.
