Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell admits there is a serious illegal-immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border. However, he warned against the “potentially catastrophic economic impact” if President Trump closed the border.
“We certainly have a crisis on the border,” McConnell told reporters (video below). “I think the president’s right about that. But closing down the border would have potentially catastrophic economic impact on our country. And I would hope we would not be doing that sort of thing.”
McConnell and Schumer Both Urge Trump to Not Close Border
McConnell echoed the sentiments of Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY), who also claimed that closing the border would cause an “economic disaster,” and urged Trump not to do it.
“The economic disaster to the country would be huge,” Schumer said. “My guess is that cooler heads will prevail upon the president not to do it. It would be a disaster for him and a disaster for the country.”
Flashback to Chuck Schumer in 2009: “Illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple.”
Army of 20,000 Illegals Stampeding Toward Border Now
Both Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer were reacting to President Trump, who threatened to close the border if Congress doesn’t curb illegal immigration by passing stricter laws.
“If we don’t make a deal with Congress, the Mexico border’s going to be closed — 100%,” Trump said. “Or we’re going to close large sections of the border, maybe not all of it. But it’s the only way we’re getting a response, and I’m totally ready to do it.”
The president was reacting to reports that another massive caravan — this time an army of 20,000 illegal immigrants from Central America — is marching to the US to demand entry.

USA Gives Money To Nations That Don’t Respect Our Borders
Mexico and the other Central American countries are doing nothing to stop the caravans — despite the fact that the United States gives hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid to them every year.
Why is the United States giving money to countries that don’t respect its sovereignty and laws?
In 2018, the United States gave Mexico $290 million in financial aid. Yet Mexican officials won’t do what the US has asked — which is to stop the multiple daily caravans from rushing our southern border.
Mitch McConnell got dragged on Twitter for his weak leadership and refusal to back President Trump once again.
“What CAN you do?”
“How long could the Mexican government last without exports to the USA? Within 60 days they would be posting troops on the border blocking illegal immigration from their side. We wouldn’t need a wall. CLOSE THE BORDER.”
He packs the courts with entitled white men like himself. And he works plenty hard for his lobbyists.

By the way, here are the Republican senators who broke with Trump and voted against funding the border wall.

Meanwhile, children are being trafficked through the illegal caravans. But Democrats are OK with that, as long as they can import in as many illegals as possible to increase their voting bloc.
Flashback: Many Democrats (including Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, Hillary and Bill Clinton) were in favor of immigration reform and border fencing as recently as 2015.
Once President Trump took office in 2017, the entire Democrat Party did an about-face and slammed the wall as “immoral” and racist.
