Trump ‘very seriously’ considering ending birthright citizenship, joining majority of nations

President Trump wants to end birthright citizenship, citing the crushing long-term financial burden it imposes on US taxpayers.

President Donald Trump said his administration is once again seriously considering an executive order to end birthright citizenship, which he called “ridiculous.”

“We’re looking at that very seriously,” Trump told reporters. “Birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land — walk over the border, have a baby, and congratulations, the baby’s now a U.S. citizen!’ We are looking at birthright citizenship very seriously It’s, frankly, ridiculous.”

The policy automatically grants citizenship to any child born in the United States — even if their parents came here illegally. Opponents say the practice incentivizes more illegal immigration and is a crushing burden on American schools, hospitals, housing, and government resources.

According to the Center for Immigrant Studies, almost 50% of “immigrant” households depend on some type of welfare such as food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and school lunches. In contrast, just 30% of native-led households collect welfare.

Predictably, the Left has slammed Trump’s proposal to end birthright citizenship, calling it racist.

For the record, the United States and Canada are the only developed countries that recognize birthright citizenship.

The following are among the nations that have repealed Birthright Citizenship in recent years. Where’s the left-wing outrage calling them racist?

  • Australia (2007)
  • New Zealand (2005)
  • Ireland (2005)
  • France (1993)
  • India (1987)
  • Malta (1989)
  • United Kingdom (1983)
  • Portugal (1981)

As BizPac Review reported, before Democrats became radicalized due to their pathological Trump Derangement Syndrome, they too believed in halting the alarming epidemic of illegal immigration.

In 1993, former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) said “no sane country” would offer birthright citizenship. Senator Reid even introduced legislation to end birthright citizenship.

“If making it easy to be an illegal alien isn’t enough, how about offering a reward for being an illegal immigrant?” Reid asked on the Senate floor speech in 1993. “No sane country would do that, right?”

“If you break our laws by entering this country without permission and give birth to a child, we reward that child with U.S. citizenship and guarantee a full access to all public and social services this society provides. And that’s a lot of services.

Is it any wonder that two-thirds of babies born at taxpayer expense in country — county-run hospitals in Los Angeles are born to illegal alien mothers?”

The Left’s intentional perversion of the 14th Amendment to justify birthright citizenship has caused a massive spike in “birth tourism,” where foreigners travel to the United States for the express purpose of giving birth to an “anchor baby.”

Of the 195 countries in the world, only 35 recognize birthright citizenship. In other words, 82% of all the countries in the world do NOT recognize birthright citizenship.

Most countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East do not recognize birthright citizenship. According to the Left, that must be because they are racist white supremacists, right?
