AOC rewrites history on the fly: 22nd Amendment was about preventing (already dead) FDR’s re-election

If the socialists take power in the USA, we may have to erase and revise a lot of the history we’ve learned, at least if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is any indicator.

To be clear, history can be such a subjectively useful and fluid thing when you are tap dancing way out on the extreme left side of the dance floor with liberals. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Town Hall on the Green New Deal on MSNBC was a great example.

First chuckle of the Town Hall for many was that AOC was center stage at none other than the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

AOC didn’t waste any time adding to her already legendary portfolio of idiotic proclamations when she boldly re-framed a significant part of American history for her own political convenience.

Actually, the jury is out on what exactly was going on in AOC’s head when she explained to her fawning adulators (pretty much the only ones who tuned in to this political theatre) why the 22nd Amendment came into being. “They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected,” she said.

Here’s the funny thing about that … the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution was approved by Congress in March of 1947 … and the process of ratification by the states was completed in February 1951. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) passed away much earlier, in April 1945.

Is she that ignorant that she would try to speak to a live televised audience like this about history that she knows nothing about? Past performance suggests the answer to this is yes. But there also remains the possibility that her handlers, the Justice Democrats, fed her the line in the belief that her audience would be totally oblivious and receptive to whatever she had to say in trying to make her case, regardless of truthfulness. Living in the moment, right?

Also, did you know that AOC is an economist? It’s true, she said so. She does have a BA in economics but has never been employed in the field. Bartending, yes, economics, no. But the word is she can mix a great Wall Street martini.

One other thing … economists are defined as being PhDs who are working practitioners in the discipline of economics.

“So as an economist, I can say that there’s no question that we can afford to do a Green New Deal,” she reassured her audience.

She barreled along switching gears as fast as she could find them, “Climate scientists are telling us we have ten years. We must act now.

“… FDR did a tremendous amount in the first hundred days … he passed things that continue to affect lives and continue to lift up the most vulnerable in our society today so I believe we can do it.

“But what are the lessons from the New Deal that we can bring in today? … (there’s) the problem of political will, you know technologically it’s possible, (but) is it politically feasible?”

She then talked about how popular the Democrats were with “super-majorities” in Congress, in addition to FDR winning multiple terms through the WW2 era. Apparently, the point she wanted to make was that it took extraordinary measures to end the Democrats’ stranglehold on power in Washington.

“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected,” she lied.

Never mind then that it was the Democrats with their powerful majorities who made the 22nd Amendment reality.
