Tucker’s not letting Al Sharpton slide after Smollett reaction: Why Tawana Brawley’s rape hoax matters

While perpetrating a hate crime hoax ought to be a death sentence for one’s career, over on the left it instead often serves as a jumping-off point for fame, fortune and success. The perfect example of this, according to Fox News host Tucker Carlson, is the ironic career of Al Sharpton.

In a monologue Monday evening on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the host rightly noted that Sharpton, a former street hustler turned Democrat Party policy adviser and veritable Democrat TV “news” host, has never been held accountable for the hate crime hoax he helped perpetrate 31 years ago.

Listen:

“In 1987, Al Sharpton introduced the media to a young woman called Tawana Brawley. Brawley had an awful story to tell. She said she’d been viciously raped by a group of racist white man and left in a garbage bag. She was covered in feces with racial slurs scrawled on her body,” he said.

“The Brawley case dominated headlines across the country for more than a year, and it bitterly divided New York City along ethnic lines. People hated each other because of what Tawana Brawley said happened to her. But it was all a lie.”

In October of 1988, and after conducting hundreds of interviews, a grand jury concluded that the rape never happened — that Brawley had manufactured all of it after she ran away from home so as to avoid being punished by her stepfather, Ralph King.

“That should’ve been the end of Al Sharpton’s career, yet just the opposite happened,” Carlson continued, explaining that the now-wealthy race hustler went on to run for president, advise former President Barack Hussein Obama and even obtain his own “news” program on MSNBC.

“Sharpton has never apologized or even acknowledged the harm he did to this country by lying about Tawana Broadley. No one has forced him to. The lesson of Al Sharpton was clear to everyone watching: There are no penalties for hate hoaxes. There are only rewards.”

Enter Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett, the latest in a long line of hate crime hoaxers who’ve attempted to exploit racial tensions in America for some sort of personal gain.

Smollett claimed in late January that two men had assaulted him, poured bleach on him and placed a noose around his neck, all while allegedly yelling racial and homophobic slurs and shouting, “This is MAGA country!” FYI, Chicago hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1931.

According to TMZ, Smollett also claimed that the suspect was white. The dubious description of the alleged attack provided to local authorities by him led the left to assume the perpetrators were racist white supporters of President Donald Trump and that Trump was therefore to blame.

It has since been learned — though not quite yet proven indefinitely — that the actor allegedly staged the attack with the help of two Nigerian actors whom he’d hired.

“Will anybody be held accountable for this? Don’t bet on it,” Carlson asserted.

If anything, hate crime hoaxes have been occurring more and more frequently ever since the election of President Donald Trump, whom the left falsely claim is a racist white supremacist.

Only weeks after the president’s election in 2016, a Muslim woman filed a police report claiming she’d been harassed on a New York City subway by hate-spewing Trump supporters. That was a lie.

The following year the media blamed Trump after a hash of bomb threats were issued against various synagogues and Jewish schools. That turned out to be a false narrative.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Last year the media again blamed Trump when a suspect vandalized a New York synagogue. It was later learned that the suspect was a deranged Democrat activist.

And just last month the media ran with a false narrative about an American Indian who’d allegedly been harassed by a group of  Trump-supporting teenager boys. That too was a lie.

“The much-hyped epidemic of hate crimes you’ve heard so much about essentially is made up,” Carlson pointed out. “The premise is absurd. America is not a hateful country. It’s the most welcoming place on Earth. That’s why, even as our children learn from their teachers what a bigoted country this is, millions continue to stream in from Africa and Latin America for a better life here.”

“We are kind people. You see it in your own life. How many violent racists do you know? None probably. That is because there aren’t any in America. The left has to invent them,” the host concluded.

All while it ignores the real racism and bigotry perpetrated by its own members on a near-daily basis, as noted by social media:
