Mitch for the win! McConnell puts Green New Deal up for a Senate vote, throws Dems into panic

CLEVELAND, OH - JULY 19: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) speaks after roll call on the second day of the Republican National Convention on July 19, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump received the number of votes needed to secure the party's nomination. An estimated 50,000 people are expected in Cleveland, including hundreds of protesters and members of the media. The four-day Republican National Convention kicked off on July 18. Socialist congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her cohort, Sen. Ed Markey, are so confident in their so-called “Green New Deal” that they’ve taken offense to Senate Majority Mitch McConnell taking the plan seriously (*cough*) and scheduling it for an official vote …

Confused? You’re not the only one.

Look:

Just to be clear, conservative commentator Stephen Miller was being sarcastic.

Markey’s complaints were posted a couple hours after McConnell announced his intentions.

“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal. And we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate. Give everybody an opportunity to go on record and see how they feel about the #GreenNewDeal,” he said during a presser held around 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon.

While there’s some speculation that McConnell is merely “trolling” Ocasio-Cortez and Markey, it doesn’t matter. If the two genuinely believe that the implementation of their radical plan is necessary to prevent humanity from being destroyed by so-called man-made climate change, then why would they be opposed to it being brought up for a vote?

Might it be because they know deep inside their hearts that their plan is clinically insane?

Released last Thursday, the plan calls for outlawing air travel, combustion-engine vehicles, nuclear energy, fossil fuel energy, meat and farting cows — as well as guarantying everybody a job (assuming they want one), in addition to free education, free healthcare, free housing, etc.

Rolling out the plan would require a total and unequivocal government takeover — or what AOC would rather call “government intervention.” It’d likewise cost an estimated 8,000 times more than it’d take for President Donald Trump to secure the southern U.S. border.

The deal is so outrageous that even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed it as a “Green New Dream” and snubbed AOC by not assigning her to serve on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

As crazy as plan is, AOC and Markey nevertheless released it as a serious proposal.

In fact, since releasing the plan Ocasio-Cortez has posted numerous tweets defending it:

She even complained about the Senate refusing to take her bill seriously:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Yet now that the Senate is taking her plan somewhat seriously, her cohort is complaining.

All this being said, what’s the real reason McConnell wants to vote on the “Green New Deal?”

It’s to force Democrats go on the record — just like Sen. Ben Sasse did last week vis-à-vis infanticide — and admit whether they support AOC’s radicalism, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham:

Plus, the idea of Congress being forced to vote on the “Green New Deal” is hilariously “awesome,” according to social media users:

Cocaine Mitch for the win indeed!

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …
