Trump approval rating among Latinos rockets amid shutdown over border wall: Poll

President Trump’s approval rating has soared among Latinos during the shutdown.

Latino support for President Donald Trump has rocketed during the government shutdown over border wall funding, according to a new poll by the left-wing groups NPR/PBS/Marist.

The poll indicates that Trump’s approval rating among Latinos soared to 50% in January 2019 ― up 19 points since December 2018.

Republican strategist Gus Portela, who’s Puerto Rican, says this is because Hispanics recognize that President Trump is helping their community.

As BizPac Review reported, Hispanic unemployment rates are at a record low under Trump.

Strategist: Trump Is Helping Latinos

“This president has done historic strides to help the Latino community,” Portela told Fox & Friends.

The poll also noted that 63 percent of all adults surveyed want to see elected officials make compromises.

Gus Portela says Trump’s approval rating among Latinos would plunge if he caved in and did not build a border wall. This contradicts the mainstream media narrative that all Hispanics consider Trump’s wall “racist.”

If anything, law-abiding Latinos support the wall, because they realize that the MS-13 gang members, human traffickers, and drug smugglers who sneak across the porous border target the Hispanic community.

Portela applauded President Trump for trying to end the government shutdown by negotiating with Democrats. But, he notes, that Dems have continued with their obstructionism.

“He’s willing to make a deal, he’s willing to compromise,” Portela said. “But Democrats, on the other hand, they’re simply not. Democrats have not lived up to their word.”

Many Latinos Support the Border Wall

Many Hispanic-Americans support the wall. Just ask Steve Cortes, president of the National Hispanic Advisory Council for Trump.

Or the Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra.

And director Robby Starbuck.

Air Force veteran Anna Paulina wants the wall.

So does Senator Ted Cruz.

Add Senator Marco Rubio to the long list of Latinos who back Trump’s wall.
