Kamala Harris aide resigns after paying $400,000 in sexual harassment claim; Dem AG blamed the victim

A longtime top aide of Democrat Senator Kamala Harris resigned yesterday amid revelations that her office paid $400,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by his former executive assistant, Danielle Hartley.

Harris — a junior senator who assumed office in 2017 — rose to fame this year after viciously attacking Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation, when he was smeared with sham, 11th hour sexual misconduct claims.

Hartley filed her sexual harassment lawsuit in December 2016 (see complaint below), when Kamala Harris was — ironically — the attorney general of California.

Hartley alleges that Larry Wallace — who was then the director of the division of law enforcement under then-Attorney General Harris — sexually harassed and demeaned her between 2011 and 2016.

Kamala Harris’ rep told the Sacramento Bee that Harris was not aware of the lawsuit, which is odd since she was Wallace’s boss, and a harassment complaint was filed against him during her tenure as California AG. Wallace continued to work for Harris on her Senate staff until yesterday.

“We were unaware of this issue and take accusations of harassment extremely seriously,” Harris’ rep said. “Mr. Wallace offered his resignation to the senator, and she accepted it.”

Danielle Hartley claims Wallace repeatedly asked her to crawl under his desk to replace the paper in his printer. When she asked him to move the printer to another location so she wouldn’t have to crawl on her knees in dresses and skirts, Wallace refused.

“Many times, Wallace would ask her to put paper in the printer while he was sitting at his desk or with other male executives in the room,” the lawsuit alleges.

Hartley also claims that Wallace forced her to do menial tasks and run personal errands, like washing his car and booking flights for his children.

When Hartley complained about this harassment to her supervisor, she says Wallace retaliated against her by micromanaging her and making her life hell at work.

In 2014, Hartley says she was involuntarily transferred to another bureau, where she says she was denied promotions despite scoring a 95 on a state exam to qualify for a promotion.

Five months after she filed her lawsuit, the California Department of Justice settled with Hartley for $400,000.

Xavier Becerra, a Trump-hating Democrat who replaced Kamala Harris as AG when she became a US Senator, signed off on the payment.

In response to a separate claim Hartley filed, Becerra blamed her for the sexual harassment she endured under her former boss.  Becerra wrote:

“[The department took] reasonable steps to prevent and correct workplace harassment. [Hartley] unreasonably failed to utilize the procedures during the period of time and after the alleged harassment or discrimination was occurring.

Had Plaintiff taken reasonable effort to utilize these procedures, Plaintiff’s alleged harm, injury or damages would have been avoided.”

What’s astonishing is that Democrats like Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra publicly claim to be “champions for women” and supporters of the “Me Too” movement.

But when the cameras aren’t on, they’re hypocrites who cavalierly dismiss women who come forward with credible claims of abuse. They merely pay lip service to protecting and helping women in order to improve their public images.

Here’s the proof: Kamala Harris is reportedly considering running for president in 2020.

If she does, Harris would be following in the footsteps of another junior senator who ran for president during his first term in the Senate. That guy’s name was Barack Obama.
